The sugar cane harvest is ongoing in the plaines around Peshawar. We

shot some photos from the workers outside the factory. Then the

owner invited us to visit the "kitchen". It was a dark and smoky

room. First we had difficulties to see something. Then our eyes

adjusted to the conditions. The D5 had less problems with this

situation. Thanks for your feedback. Karl

Very intersesting shot. I'm surprised that sugar can grows in Pakistan. The lighting is very good.

I'm also surprised by the low noise level at such a high ISO (at least on image size).

Magnificent.

There are many things I like here but a few are outsanding.

First, the choice of shooting in available light. This avoided washing out the colours you had around, and allowed to capture the best of the smoke.

Then, the shutter time. Something are frozen in the 1/30s time...others not, like the left arm of the guy to the right, what adds to the dynamics of the scene.

I also like the overall composition of the scene, with the structure to the left background leading into the scene, the very dynamic pouring of sugar in the centre of the attention, enhanced by the light colours behind it, which make it almost a silhouette. Also the guy just squatting to the left while the other two work is typical a sight in such environments.

Yes, there are things I would change, like the overlap of the stick of the man to the right and the head of the guy who is pouring but that would become a stage, not reality.

I think that's your nicest picture on photo.net, and one of my rare 7/7!
