AJHingel 127 Posted January 29, 2006 Such very gentle views on groups of trees that stand out and make space in nature for their specific colours and features can of course be found in many different versions. This one is extremely peacefull in my view. It will not make any spiritual disruptions when viewing it but brings maybe peace to the mind of the observer. What do you think. Link to comment

johncrosley 0 Posted July 31, 2010 I came across this at the bottom of a recent forum post on security as illustrative of your work, and indeed it is illustrative not only of YOUR work but of THE BEST work.I would really like to see this particular photo taken with a 4 x 5" view camera or an 8 x 10 in. view camera, so great is its potential for being an all-time great. It has languished with relatively low rates, for reasons I cannot fathom; it's a wonderful photo. I'm not going to rate it; I don't rate landscapes generally, and instead I'm going to give you my comment -- it's one of the best landscapes I've seen in a very, very long time and belongs right up alongside the very best. That it's in color makes it all the better, because not only do the shapes harmonize but the harmony of the shapes is accented by the disharmony (contrast) of the colors. This is one masterful job of seeing and capturing. I hope you are proud of your work -- you should be.johnJohn (Crosley) Link to comment
AJHingel 127 Posted August 3, 2010 Thanks John, but I'm sure you are honoring me too much. I know why I shot it and admire it every time I pass by the place. It's composition is something special and the color contrast does much to it's attraction. The special moment made the late afternoon light fall on the first row of circular trees and creates depth in the scene. From there to describe it as some kind of exceptional quality is a step that I personally would not make. But, I can assure you that I appreciate very much your support. Sometimes you need this type of support to counterweight the 3/3s .. Link to comment
johncrosley 0 Posted January 16, 2011 Easily overlooked, but giving a clue to the light, and the exposure, is the faint shimmering of light on the body of water, behind. The trees and their shapes and contrasts, steal the show, but the water 'gives some depth' to an otherwise somewhat more two dimensional photo.I know you see it more in three dimensions, and possibly for personal reasons since you pass by it frequently, but two or three dimensions, it's just the best of the best and certainly of your best, no excuses needed and from me, no gilding the lily - no false flattery from me, ever. (it's too hard to remember one's lies). When one gets a compliment from me, it's well deserved and fundamentally so.johnJohn (Crosley) Link to comment
