Karl Schuler 48 Posted January 28, 2006 Mount Kailash, the holy mountain of the Hindus and Buddhists alike, as seen from a hill close to Manasarovar lake. This is a photo out of my series "Kulturlandschaften". The English translation of "Kulturlandschaften" is "man made landscape". However you will not see much human influence in the shape of this landscape. Still for me it is a "Kulturlandschaft". In the minds of millions of people it is much more than what we can see. Walk arund Mount Kailash and your sins of a lifetime are washed away... The major rivers of the Indian Subcontinent like the Indus, the Bhramaputra, the Karnali-Ganges and the Sutlej have their origin close to the Mount Kailash. Link to comment
salvatore.mele 1 Posted February 8, 2006 Isn't it very Kulturlandschaft-ish the way you've black clouds on one side, and they get cleansed to white onto the other? Like they went around the snow peak and got redeemed! As a panoramic shot, I like -as in others of the series- the way the land (in warm colours) and the skies/mountains (in cold colours) share the Earth between the two of them. The location on the major peak in the ridge is just like and -Kulturlandschaft apart- I like how it serves as a chromatic watershed between the two tints of the clouds. Link to comment
