aepelbacher 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Another that wasn't in-focus enough. Otherwise, what are your thoughts? Link to comment
pampolin 1 Posted January 28, 2006 well, its a correct register, but only a register. I think a scene to be a nice picture, needs to have something special and this one doesnt have. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Okay, then help me here ... as I've said, I am only now experimenting with street photography. What is a "register"? Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Now your talking! This is my kind of shot. Human beings are really amazing and this man is no exception. Good capture. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Thanks, Howard! After I posted this and looked at it again, I thought: This almost looks like something that Howard would be into. (Of course, not nearly as well done as you do, though!) Thanks for your kudos! :-) Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 28, 2006 I think what Paulo means is it's a record of this time/place, perhaps more informational than artistic. For me, the lack of sharpness is an issue. I do like seeing everything surrounding the man as that is interesting to me, even though it makes for a very busy composition. Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted January 29, 2006 Lou Ann- I find this fascinating because of the image in the image of the same thing. I would adjust the contrast & sharpness, but other than that the composition is super! Busy but a nice busy! Link to comment
rkynast 1 Posted January 29, 2006 Outside of the sharpness issue, I can see the look of concentration on his face as he plays - he must have gotten to a particularly difficult section. Well done. Best regards Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 30, 2006 We need a category 'D' for Documentary. :-) I'm sure this will have more of a long term value from that point of view than the zillions of sunsets etc here on PN. I find to get a reasonable street shot you need to be very aware of everything around the main subject. In this case the sunshade pole in the foreground attracts more attention than it deserves but short of going up and moving it ('Excusez moi!') I'm not sure what else you could do except get closer. Is that a canary in the cage? Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted January 30, 2006 Yeah, I was bummed about the umbrella pole, too. I almost decided to try and clone it out ... but I'm not that good! :-) Link to comment
cjrupp 0 Posted January 31, 2006 Lou, this photo has character. Yes a little soft, but captures a moment. As for the pole, its part of the territory in street shots, if you can't work around it, it stays. Link to comment
alberto.conde 0 Posted January 31, 2006 Good street scene. pity his shoulder is a bit overexposed Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted January 31, 2006 Street photography is such a challenge, Lou Ann. You have to have quick reflexes, but also the ability to quickly compose, and like Colin says...notice what surrounds your subject. I like the adjustments that Jamie made, but I think you started with a well composed image, soft or not! Link to comment
wilsontsoi 0 Posted January 31, 2006 As busy as this shot might appear, the composition actually is good. The lack of sharpness bothers quite a bit though. Good documentary type of shot, Lou Ann. Link to comment
kmgibbs 0 Posted March 2, 2006 I think you have a keen eye for street photography. After looking at some of your other street scenes, you have a managed to capture a sense of place in them. As for the pole, it's part of the atmosphere of the scene. I agree that perhaps tweaking the contrast up a bit might make it stronger. Kent (from 'Five') Link to comment
