I'm a sucker for these reflection shots anyway, but this one's honestly very very good. Different in that it reflects a street scene or street level anyway(rather than other buildings) and nice in that it has just the right amount of abstract, but not too much. Good color too. Great work!

I am pleased to announce that this image won a Second Place ribbon in the Amateur / Digital category in my local Arts Council annual photo exhibition.

I really have to wonder about those "3" ratings a couple of folks gave it on this forum.... I cannot learn anything without some insight into the reasoning behind them.

Does anyone else here think that a comment should be REQUIRED for any rating below 4 - or any rating above 6 for that matter???

Congratulations on your award!! No accounting for taste with those "3's", that's for sure. And truthfully, I think that's what it boils down to. Shots like these (though "my" favorites) aren't always an easy sell & I think that there are loads of members out there that use the rating functions as a way to show what they "like", rather than its technical or creative merit. I may not "like" shots of dogs and cats, but I'm not going to slam them with 3's when they're well done. Oh well. I imagine that it's tough to get the perfect system for all this. In a perfect world...

I appreciate your previous compliments on this image and your congratulations on the ribbon. I agree with your approach to ratings and the idea that some ratings are simply personal likes / dislikes. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder!

This is a good shot that had a chance to be excellent with more uniform light. The lower left is too bright and the lower right is too dark relative to the overall exposure and creates an imbalance in the composition.

If you have some more from this session, I'd like to see them.

I see your point. I went back and found the attached version taken about a minute after the one above. I can see there is more "balance" in this image. I appreciate your taking the time to provide feedback. Regards, --RL

I was wondering about a different shooting angle, although the time of day is really the most important variable.
