heathercantwell 0 Posted January 25, 2006 I think this is an amazing photo. Was it altered in photoshop? Link to comment
jstyles 0 Posted January 25, 2006 This is very dramatic, and I can't really fault it except that I really love the soft dreaminess of the other version, and the tree tops - they close the image in for me and make me feel safe. One thing I might be tempted to blot out a bit is the sawn off branch scar (top middle in this version). Very nice. Link to comment
robertbrown 1 Posted January 26, 2006 Heather, thanks for stopping. No, this is just a simple b&w conversion using channel mixer in PS, then levels and contrast control, then a little burning on the sky. I toned this slightly to give it warm, yellowish hue to approximate selenium toning in the wet darkroom. Julie, thanks for your comments and I agree with you about the upper, cropped branches. However, I thought this composition works better. I was on the move when I was photographying here--now I wish I would have spent an hour in this spot trying a lot of different compositions. Imanol, thanks for you nice comment! Link to comment
afs760bf 0 Posted January 27, 2006 Robert, this is wonderful, and is much more impressive if viewed in the "larger" version. Great tones and nice detail. Hang it on your wall. Best Regards Link to comment
lucyhollis 2 Posted January 28, 2006 Has the look and feel of an old etching. The canopy trees in the distance give the feeling protection. I can imagine a young girl in billowing white fabric and a parasol emerging from behing the front tree. Link to comment
