markboyer 0 Posted January 23, 2006 Beautifully captured, Bente. Must be pretty cold where you are these days. Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted January 23, 2006 Strong image, Bente...... Very effectively done with selective lighting.... ! Link to comment
schneekranich 0 Posted February 3, 2006 It's hard to evoke sth like sympathy with a flower, even a dead or dying one and you did extremely well here, strong stuff! Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted February 12, 2006 Hi Bente! How are you? I love this ... the colors dark and striking, and the background really makes the subject pop. Was this taken near your home? Cold weather right about now in Zealand? This looks like it was taken after it rained and then froze suddenly. You have a fine eye for detail. Still enjoying your 20D? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted February 18, 2006 I like the rich colors & tones of this composition. I wonder about darkening the background just a little more to make the icy flower pop? Link to comment
ljk 0 Posted February 19, 2006 This is absolutely lovely. The flower seems defeated by winter, beautiful still, but sad. It's true! You have evoked emotions with a simple dead flower. Congratulations! Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted February 21, 2006 .... for being this late. Shame on me. Valiss ... thanks for taking you time to comment. Mark ... thanks to you too. Yes it has been pretty cold her .. still is .. and 'they' are talking of more snow to come. Brad ... thanks. The light is simple flashlight from teh camera... not my favourite light but it was getting late ( became dark about 4 pm ) and it was the only way to get the frozen slower without a tripod. I think the flash did put some drama in it. Marina ... thanks for your comment and glad you like it. Andrea ... thanks for your nice words. Sympathie with a dead flower .. I like that. There was a whole little 'wood' of these frozen sun flowers and they looked strange and beautiful at the same time. I guess teh coldness became there end. Lou Ann .. first: yes, this is pretty close to my place, only a few minutes drive. The day before I took this there had been an icestorm ( it rained with ice) Everything was covered with thick ice and teh next day it melted and made things look like this. It has been a l-o-n-g winter here. There hasn't been so much snow the last 10 - 12 years like this winter ...... brrrrr ... really puts me down. .....and as far I know you have got the winter to feel too. .....and for the 20D ... yes, I'm pretty happy about it ( bought it in the tax-free Andorra on my little summer trip) but not using it as often as I would like too and I wish I could be on PN much more than I am ... longing for spring to come. So glad you took your time here Lou Ann. Peter ... thnx and glad you like it. Kim ... I know what you mean about darkening the background even more and maybe you are right. I kept it this way because I liked the glimpse of the other flowers in the background. Thnx for taking you time Kim ... and as always a sober comment from you. Linda ... defeated by the winter, beautiful still but sad ..... descibes exactly my feelings at the moment ( ok .. forget about the 'beautiful') but defeated and sad by the winter longing for spring. Thank you so much for the nice words Linda. Link to comment
bekster 0 Posted February 23, 2006 Hi Bente, I love the concept of nature reclaiming her own. It is an awesome thing, and a very striking image nicely captured! Link to comment

peta 0 Posted March 2, 2006 Beautiful and rather forlorn too Bente...I am very fond of icicles no matter where, though by the sound of it you wish them gone. We had no winter this year here in Texas...90F today! So I wished for a little snow.:) Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted March 5, 2006 Bente, I love the new photo you uploaded today on your place for the bio pic... It looks like the spring sunlight is coming over there. Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted March 6, 2006 Thanks for noticing my new 'bio-picture' It's from sunday .. the sun was shining .. and it was freezing 14F (-10C) and snowed some again. Looks like the winter never will take an end here .... and this very morning we had no water ( the pipes were frozen because of 5F during the night. Never tried that before)... so I'm still longing for spring to be here.Luckily we have it warm in side and the sun can shine on the cat.Glad you like it Brad and take time to tell. Link to comment
bentes_world 0 Posted March 6, 2006 I'm late. Pnina .. thanks for your comment. Glad you like it. Dexter .. thanks for your visit. Glad you like it too. Becky ... long time no see ... you seem to have been 'busy'. Congrats on that. And thank you for your nice comment. Very appreciated. Someone Else ... a contradiction indeed. I guess spring must be around by you now. I remember visiting Holland a few days in the end of March last year it was spring and some warmer than here in DK. Thanx for taking your time Els Peta ..... if you had been looking at snow since X-mas I guess you too would be tired of it. The first week is beautiful and a wonder ... but then it's trible the rest of the timee. Could use your 90F ..... thank you for your nice comment ... and so glad to see you back here on PN again.
