k.c. 0 Posted January 21, 2006 I love this. Very nice toning, composition, and texture. Link to comment
stephen hazelton 3 Posted January 21, 2006 I see a large cracked plaster pattern accross it, and don't believe that adds much to it. Difficult to tell, but I think it would look better without it. The compositon and treatment otherwise are done well. It is difficult to get a shot with a lot of detail where something modern doesn't just jump out at you. Link to comment

susan stone 0 Posted January 21, 2006 Your composition and the editing have created a very interesting time capsule, it feels like the clock has been turned back and that this is an old postcard from days gone by. I like it very much and am curious about where this is. Good job, Alexandre. Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Kenneth, thanks for commenting, I appreciate your time.Stephen, I see what you mean. The pattern you refer to was created adding a texture layer of a rocky ground shot. Now that you mention it, I see that I may have pushed it a little too much. Julio, gracias una vez mas por su interes!Susan, I'm glad you think this worked out in passing that time capsule feeling as that was precisely the intention I had in mind when I applied this effect. If you're still curious to know about this location you may check it out here .Imanol gracias y saludos. Link to comment
nrb 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Many images of this view from the steps of the royal palace of Sintra do exist, but this one is different from all I had seen before. Again, in my opinion, the seemingly antique texture effect in this photograph not only befits the character of the place but also underlines its timelessness. Just bear in mind that this is a museum town, and as such recognized by a special UNESCO award, where nothing can be added or subtracted but only kept the way it is as was built by the people who once lived there to attend to their aims and needs. nrb 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Globalization is not an empty word. Many other towns and places have been frozen in time as Sintra was for the benefit of visitors and to serve the tourism industry, following the trend set by other less genuine thematic parks in Orlando and the rest of the world. sigfridlopez 0 Posted January 23, 2006 Extremely appealing and perfectly crafted. As a fanatic of the sepia myself, I guess this has been outstandingly applied here (where the timeless Sintra suits the mood that you have enhanced). Excellent. Link to comment
ak-arts 0 Posted January 24, 2006 Antes de mais gostaria de agredecer os comentarios no meu trabalho, fico contente por haver aqui mais pessoas portuguesas, porque expressar em ingles tudo o que se pensa e um bocado dificil. Acerca deste trabalho: Acho fantastica a manipula硯, chamou-me a aten硯 a textura aplicada, muito bem conseguida. Conhe篠um pouco a cidade de sintra, e 頭esmo este o espirito que ela mostra ter quando se olha para ela! Exelente trabalho! Alex Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted January 25, 2006 Nuno, thank you for the detailed comment, putting so well this photo in the context of Sintra, which is indeed such a very special place in a big variety of things. Let's hope no globalization will ever change that. Alberto, obrigado pelo comentario nesta e noutras fotos do meu portfolio. Sigfrid, if you don't know Sintra yet you should really put it your list of places to visit. I would love to see it through your eyes and lens. Saludos! Ghiga, I?m glad you liked the old effect. I personally think that it turned out to look pretty nice in the end. Alexander, tens razao em portugues apesar de tudo sempre e' mais facil comunicar. Obrigado pelo comentario. Link to comment

lucyhollis 2 Posted February 17, 2006 I can imagine the Pied Piper appearing down the curving road. I like the cracked texture, though personally would have liked to see even more. Right now it looks like cheap plastic disintegrating. (maybe its not that bad!) Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted February 17, 2006 Lucy, now that you mention that it does really look like plastic breaking... Thanks for making me notice that detail. Link to comment
yankfan 0 Posted March 5, 2006 Love the sepia and the look of the photo in general. Great composition as well. Feels like a photo from the 20's or 30's. Well done. Thanks for your comments on my pictures. John Link to comment
