Ardmair Bay

ian cameron

The sweeping grey stone beach of Ardmair Bay a few miles North of Ullapool is backed by a most impressive mountain ridge. It is however rarely lit, on this occasion patches of light spattered it and transformed the slopes rust red (bracken) and grey (rock)it was a further lengthy wait before the sun struck the cottages and spit of land as well. Please take a look at some new images recently uploaded to Transient Light and Timecatcher.

A sweeping bay backed by mountains spattered by sunlight. The

lighting on the tiny row of cottages was wonderfully theatrical.

Great light , good composition , nice feeling of depth . On the downside , if there is one , I must force myself to give a proper originality rating . Someone has to. I hope you understand. Best regards.

Walter thanks for your comments all reasoned views are appreciated. I haven't any problems with low originality ratings, I tend to shoot for aesthetics only. If the aesthetic happens to be original then that to me is simply a bonus, but so often being original looks to me like somebody STRUGGLING to be different.

I do wish the originality rating were abandoned altogether. Most people find it very hard, having given a high astethics rating, to give a lesser originality rating, thus rendering it fairly meaningless. None of my landscapes are very original, beauty is much more important to me, and there is plenty of it in your portfolio. Best regards , Walter.
