nathan_ross 0 Posted January 19, 2006 Back-lighting always looks good if done well, as you've captured here. Nice shot. Link to comment

kim_tural 0 Posted January 19, 2006 Alin, Nathan and Julio. It is nice of you to leave such positive comments. This is part of a much larger image and I was unsure about the crop. The feedback is appreciated. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 20, 2006 Alec and CHiPS for a very nice visit and comments from both. I'm happy about the lighting and contrast too. Link to comment
laurent.lp 0 Posted January 20, 2006 What i like the more, it's the little halo in the snow, and the cold tone. Great picture, one more if i had to comment your excellent portfolio. Thanks for sharing Kim, i'm learning when i look at your photos. Link to comment
lgreene 0 Posted January 21, 2006 My reaction of the blue back ground in the thumbnail view was it looks like clouds being held up by branches. I'm sure you can see this has many possibilities to it. I like the vivid colors you caught. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 21, 2006 Loic, I'm very flattered by your comment. I'm a beginner myself and I am learning from others too. I liked the halo and how the sun created different tones in the snow. Leanne, that would be a mighty big tree! In reality it's only a twig. I like the crop you did and I must admit my biggest decision in this case was where do I crop? I did try something similar to your version. It surprised me how it looks so much darker on my monitor at home. We just got back from the cottage yesterday. I had used a laptop to edit this and it was much lighter on that screen. It makes you wonder how others see it as well. I see that little sparkle in the ice caught your eye. It's the main reason I posted this. Link to comment
dawn_neander1 0 Posted January 21, 2006 kimmy... It is a wonderful photo. I joined the group just so i could send you my comment. Feels like the snow is dancing and i find the photo very powerful. Crop more often cause I think you have found your passion. Link to comment
dawn_neander1 0 Posted January 21, 2006 darn, kimmy... my pic is rather large... i will attempt to edit the pic soon! Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 21, 2006 What a surprise and thanks for the encouragement. Welcome to PN ! BTW no one calls me kimmy here :-) only you I guess... :-)) I went out for a walk this afternoon. We had one of those snowfalls where the snow just sticks to everything. I hope I got one or two good shots! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 21, 2006 Good light and colour, Kim! The blue and white work well toether. Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Kim, You sure give a wonderful tasteful image of the snow, the variety of the white,in shadows and light with the blue,Beautiful. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 22, 2006 Hi Colin. It's great to have your opinion on the image. It is really a lot darker than I intended to show it. I will get the original ( it's still on the laptop ) and reprocess it for my screen on the home computer. Hi Alexandra ! Thanks for your classy description! Winter can be beautiful especially after a snowfall or in the countryside where everything stays pure. I may look for other similar shots to show but only this one had the little sparkle in the ice. kim_tural 0 Posted January 22, 2006 My thought was to be able to view the details at the top and so the twigs wouldn't blend in with the background the way they do in my post and to view it all a bit lighter. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Very appealing! Simple and effective. I prefer the one you posted. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 28, 2006 Pulok, I must admit to enjoying many of your shots and great use of backlighting. Your work has taught me to look for for the light. Kim, I value your expert opinion on the two different pictures. I thought the first one was too dark but I guess it has it's place. Thanks for taking the time. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 30, 2006 I prefer the one you posted also. It seems more dramatic, and I love the contrast! (no one calls me "Kimmy" anymore either, except for a couple of really old people in town :) Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 30, 2006 Hi Kim! Wow you prefer the dark one too! Thanks for taking the time and comparing. It's good to know what does appeal to others. ( Dawn has known me for a long time ~ too long ~ that's why she calls me Kimmy) :-) Link to comment
paula grenside 0 Posted February 1, 2006 Love the luminescence around the ice. This is an excellent nature abstract. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted February 2, 2006 Hi Paula! So very nice to see you. I didn't see it as an abstract so that is interesting that you do. I'm happy that you like it. Thanks for your visit. Link to comment
