Your first attempt turned out pretty good. The color tones look something from around 1910. The vignetting around the edges also gives it an old timey feel. Its well composed. You made good use of those curved lines. Kudos on a nice piece of work.

Your attempt has brought out a great result Alex. You have managed to reach the look and mood of an old photograph. I like the various structures you've used and the soft 'old-fashioned' colourtones and light. Yes, it's a real nice composition.

Many greetings, Ada:~)

It is a beautiful image, Alexandre, and the B&W turned out very nice. You also did a great work with the effect. I personally would prefer the image without it, but that is just me.

BTW, a second ago I ran into this and thought you may be interested. They were taken from almost the same spot. I personally prefer yours because I think that the man walking adds an interesting element.

Alexandre, very good effect I must say and great angle to take this shot. I do have a small suggestion though. You might want to fix the bright area on the top center because it seems to have a mismatched color tone. I guess it might be caused by the PS Burn tool.

I like this shot and my compliments on the effects that you have achived. Although this is not the moment but I certainly would love to know how you did it. I love the shot and the angle and obviously the tones are magnificent. I actually like the bright spot of the building at the end since it takes my eyes truly around the curve to the end of the street. Hence, giving it a great DOF.

Great image. Parabens.

I'm a little late commenting on this photo, but let me say it is magnificent. Truly a piece of art. I really can't say anything neagitive about it. Love it. What PS filter did you use to achieve this old time look?

Thank you ALL for spending the time watching and leaving your nice comments.

Alejandro and Maria, thank you for the links. Looks like it is a very popular photo place after all.

Jerry, the bright area on the top centre was not due to PS burning or dodging, but I guess to the building being white contrasting with the other ones which are rather greyish.

Marco and Will, I got the idea for this effect from this very useful website, which I believe belongs to a fellow PN member.

You are becoming (or already are) a true master. Lately, every time I see your new additions, I am promising to start learning PS more indepth, but I cannot hold ths promisse... I have no excuse! (Kidding,,,) I love this picture, the way the road climbs up and turns left, the fact that there is only one person there, it really seems old and sad, and this is not thanks to PS. Congrats! I have no words

Ah!... this reminds me of Lisbon. Very similar streets. (is it Lisboa??)

I will go there in May. I know you don't live there anymore, but if you happen to pass by at the same time, we could meet :)

I love the aging effect. very atmospheric shot.

I agree with many of the praises above. what leaped out at me was the sweeping quality of the road and building lines, quite appealing. the person is placed very well for this kind of thing.

I'd say your experiment is very successful. The darkened border, the areas with diffeent amount of light, the subject, too is apt for this type of experiment. Really well done.

Sabina, you're really way too kind! I'm also still learning PS by experimenting, it's a world with so much to discover, somewhat like photography itself. Thank you for your interest as always very nice to hear from you.

Amir, thanks for taking the time to view and to comment.

Vi, yes Lisboa is Lisbon. Ever been there already? Great to know you are going there. I don't know yet if I'll be in my hometown by May, but it is well possible that I will. If so I'd certainly be very pleased to meet you there and show you around. Just make sure you take your camera and get fit to climb some steep hills to reach some very nice photo spots ;)

Ben, it is indeed a sweep street as so many others in Lisbon. The funny thing is that being that my hometown and despite being a city with so many photo opportunities, I realized that it's harder for me to find things special enough to shot them, because of being so used to them. I only noticed this after started living abroad. Thanks for passing by!

Paula, I'm very glad you think my experience worked out well. Thanks for the motivating words.

Alex, all this sounds damn cool. Let's do it!

AND - am always in shape to climb whatever is to be climbed, if that is then rewarded with a good view to be taken a picture of :)

Well done Alexandre!!! I love this atmosphere, you've succeeded enormously! I have one or two 'old pictures' as well, I think it's great to experiment in this matter. It's an aset to the photo I think, GREAT!
