aepelbacher 0 Posted January 16, 2006 I don't need Henri to translate this one for me. :-) "Ail" means garlic. As with the picture of the spices previously uploaded, I am not happy with the lack of sharp focus in the foreground. What are your thoughts? Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted January 16, 2006 I'll say this. I really like the composition and the idea that you made the image. I tried making a layer aand added a filter overlay at 75%. Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Howard's treatment makes this look like a poster somehow. I like it a lot. I find market places great for shooting artsy displays. Good eye to see this LA. Thanks for dropping by my "space" the other day. Your comments are always a breath of fresh air. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 16, 2006 I like the diagonal lines and the nice muted colours. Well spotted! These shouldn't jump up and demand to be paid either. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted January 17, 2006 I can see that you seems more interested by the french words than by the french products because you have focused on the notice rather than on the ail violet nouveau. Have you tasted it ? Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Actually, it never occurred to me that the ail violet would taste any different than regular garlic. Does it??? And, yes, Henri - the use of the French words was interesting to me. And, photographically, I thought that the signs added to the composition of these images. :-) Link to comment
cjrupp 0 Posted January 17, 2006 Lou, nice looking market shot, I,m on my way to the kitchen to make a kettle of cabbage soup with lots of garlic. Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted January 18, 2006 Good composition here, I like where the cardboard sign is in the shot and the crop. Good eye. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 18, 2006 looks good Lou Ann, I like the crop that the plake is accentuated and big like telling us look at the new violet garlic...Howard's treatment adds color to it, but I like it also as is. Pnina Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted January 18, 2006 Nice shot Lou Anne. You are right, the sign is interesting but so are the garlic. The fact that the foregroung isn't quite in focus doesn't bother me a bit rather it leads the eye to focus on what you really wanted us to see. Link to comment
kleintje 0 Posted January 20, 2006 Lou Ann, again a wonderful shot of the French market! I like the way the colourful garlic leads the eye to the sign in the back. Link to comment
mari_mar 0 Posted January 23, 2006 Love the second, it gives more contrast to the composition. Great, Lou Ann, congrats! Link to comment
jayme 0 Posted January 29, 2006 I really like this one. The only thing I would change would be the saturation/contrast & sharpen just a bit. Lou Ann most of the images need sharpened, so this is not necessarily a misque on your part. I'd suggest just changing your f-stop to the middle of whatever it's range is, kind of the "sweet spot" as they say. I do this when I'm walking around taking street shots like this. Now if I want something really artsy, I change the f-stop, deciding how much information I want in the image. Nicely seen & a wonderful composition! Your compositional skills have improved so...... much! This is the most difficult part, deciding How to photograph something. You are doing well! :) Link to comment
