will king 0 Posted January 13, 2006 Todd, I hope I don't insult you by asking this, but is the fog real or digitally added? Not that it looks digitally added. I recently took some photos in the fog and they just didn't turn out as well as this one or others I have seen recently. Either way I think it's a great photo. BTW, I absolutely love your whole portfolio. Very vast array of skills. Link to comment
toddlaffler 0 Posted January 13, 2006 The fog is real, but I know what you mean about some fog shots not turning out so well. I think a lot of it has to do with the subject matter sometimes. You need to find subjects that have a foreground object, one in the mid distance and ones far away, kind of like layers. I think this "says" fog more. The other thing that could be happeing, not sure though, is if you shoot fog shots in RAW mode and have Photoshop do it's "auto" thing on them, it tries to eliminate the foggy effect by giving you brighter highlights and darker shadows, which can sometimes ruin the whole foggy look. It could also be the amount of fog you had when you shot, maybe it wasn't thick enough? Also maybe try using a longer lens so that you can create some distance between you and your subject. If you are too close, the fog doesn't really do much. Hope that helps somewhat. Thanks for your kind words regarding my portfolio too. Warm regards, Todd Link to comment

ed600 0 Posted January 14, 2006 I like the effect of the duality of the reflection having more contrast and detail than it's top half real life double. Like the B/W tone also. Link to comment
