Je hebt dit heel mooi gedaan Ada, een dikke pluim! Heel apart ook, je zou deze foto als ansichtkaart kunnen gebruiken. Groetjes Ellen.

This is the tower of the town hall of the small and famous historical

port town called Veere in Zeeland, a province in the southwest of The

Netherlands and well known of it's Delta works. The construction of

the town hall started in 1474. In 1591 they started to build the

present tower. In 1594 the bells and the clock got hanged up and as

finishing touch the vane got placed in 1597. De vane is made in the

shape of a ship by Hans Mulder, a coppersmith from Middelburg, a

historical and rich town nearby. The ship is 2 meters tall and 1

meter 65 cm high and a feast for the eye. This was relevant

information, I hope.

I have tried to project myself in a 16 century artist who sat at the

feet of the building to immortalize Veere's proud in order of the

government. I have played with the picture and I've tried to mix the

specific radiation of an old 16th century print with a contemporary

picture.

I'm very interested to hear your thoughts about the result.

Your constructive comments will be much appreciated. Ada:~)

Thank you both very much for your great comments. I'm really very happy that you liked my experiment to bring old times to life again and Colin, I have used curves, hue and saturation, and some structure and that is it. But if you should ask me to tell you in which order I have worked I really can't give you an answer. It took me four nights untill I was fairly contented with the result. I would have liked to give the edges of the frame the frayed look of an old piece of paper but I really don't know how to manage that. Do you (or perhaps anybody else) have any idea?

I wish you a nice weekend, many greetings Ada:~)

Hi Ada,

Excellent. I also like a lot of details pictures about old buildings. Wonderful construction of 1597. Very ventured the person who can arrive near and to take a picture. The manipulation (perhaps a frame ?!) also was beautiful. Congratulations.

I'm glad you enjoyed my manipulated version of the picture I took. I'll show you the original picture so you can compare the two versions. It's still a wonderful building but I liked to go back in time. Thank you for your kind comment Andre! Many greetings, Ada:~)

Excellent work. I think that the sky could be obscured in the right angle in order to be distinguished from the frame. Is the texture of the frame obtained from the scanning of a granular paper or with a photoshop filter ?

Very nice Ada, I like the grainy appearance. Pnina

Hi Henri, what a nice surprise to read your great comment! To answer your question about the frame (which is though meant as a frame only partially); it was my intention to interweave the classical way of reproduction of buildings, landscapes and portraits of the earlier ages by paint or draw on vellum with the modern technique of photography. That is why I have chosen to let the underground flow over into the picture (foreground). For the underground I've used a part of the manipulated sky at the left which I have enlarged to the final format and lightened it a bit. Before I have taken that part out I have given the whole picture a little bit of structure in PS (sandstone). I've mixed the picture with the underground and have played with the tools in layers to let the underground flow over into some parts of the picture. Was great to see you here in Veere, Henri. BTW, have you enjoyed my guided tour of Bruges? ^!~)

Dear Pnina, a DNA test isn't necessary. I admit that I'm in dark practices. That's why I'm at my best during the nightly hours lol:) Thank you for your kind comment and such as you'll have noticed; I have adapt my biopic lol

Hi Richard, thank you for your great comment. I really appreciate your opinion, as always! Ada:~)

Beautiful, you truly are working magic with your PS work these days! I think the old-paper effect works well, no need for rough edges. It is amazing what you did from the original picture - photo-artistry in truth. I'm so glad that you are recovered from your illness, and back to work. We appreciate it, and the story behind the clock tower is very interesting as well!

Dear Lee, it was just a simple peopleflu which has brought down the whole family but in spite of that it's very sweet of you to express your sympathy. Big Hug to you,
