baerbel 0 Posted January 12, 2006 This is actually one single tree with an abundance of aerial roots. Better not plant it in your garden, unless you have a huge one. I believe it was originally imported from India and is quite a sight. Comments welcome. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 12, 2006 I like it. It kept my attention for several minutes which is a huge task in itself. Well done! Link to comment
nathan_ross 0 Posted January 12, 2006 They're quite a spectacular species. The aerial roots (if that's what they are) give plenty of depth to this "tree portrait". Link to comment
billkantor 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Well... It is interesting but it comes aross to me a bit clinical or documentary. (Sorry I don't know how else to describe it.) I also find the foliage in the foreground distracting. I think you could have improved it by moving in closer and doing a more abstract treatment... comparing it to the human form. Or... from this distance find a way to exclude the foliage and trying it under different lighting conditions or try it in black and white. Link to comment
reisenberger 0 Posted January 12, 2006 maybe try for a simpler composition? - there is a lot happening. photographing forest is not easy (I don't have success I am happy with). the best advice I read about photographing forest was from David Ward: to photograph forest you have to tame chaos, complexity and contrast. at least in a forest, even moving a little generates many more composition options.
