"Pink Ocean I" - the sun has set already, but the play of clouds in the sky are not yet calling it a day, having a surprise in store by projecting a short replay onto the surface of the sea. (6 seconds)

A somewhat darker water might have been nice, but this would have been achieved at the expense of detail in the rock. I also like the silky feel of water, so I think that 6 seconds was a good idea. Awesome, yet unusual colors. Good job!

Thanks to all for your comments. Yes in fact I was thinking of shorter exposure time too and made a 3 seconds version which I have uploaded next to the 6 seconds version http://www.photo.net/photodb/photo?photo_id=402590

However, I had two things in mind when opting for the 6 seconds. First, the water looks calmer and more mysterious and secondly I thought that the range of tones of the rock should come out in the photo. Since those photos had been taken after sunset when the sky lost its color, the longer exposure comes closer to reality. I guess, 4 seconds would have been just fine...

Very nice photo - I like the mood and the colors. No criticism of the picture but, I agree with David. For presentation purposes, I think it would benefit from, at least, a thin border. As is, the upper edge disappers into the white page, giving an impression of far too much negative space.

The contrast of texture between the rough solid rock, and the fluid water is fantastic. The colour is beautiful and brings the two elements together by enveloping both rock and sea.

i like the long exposure (6sec) because it makes the picture look more surreal. the short ex (3sec) is just a rock in the water. this is so much more somehow.

Steven, the Ocean was quite rough on the surface but the waves only foot-deep but fast-moving. On later visits I found the same rock halfway in the dry sand. Only once I saw it submerged again, but then the sky was just grey at sunset. So I guess I was there at the right time when I took this photo.

This is one of those cases where I like the rock in one but the sky and water in the other. I think I would have used Photoshop to put these two elements together to make one awsome shot.

As I just wrote as a comment in your 3s version's page, I prefer the 3 second version... but I'm considering to get a more moody shot... Maybe a 2s version, possibly closing the aperture a little (1/2 st) or better still, a 4 s version with an even smaller aperture (to keep dark details in the rock and more water motion effect), would have been in my opinion much more impactful... I'd basically like this better a lot darker... that's just me... Of course, it still is a good shot as it is. My guess is, that it wasn't unfair or by accident that a much darker shot was chosen as POW... :-)
