wilsontsoi 0 Posted January 10, 2006 Kim, very nice composition, color, and lighting! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 10, 2006 I don't usually like head-on bird shots, but I guess the simplistic background helps. Comments? Link to comment
afterthoughts 0 Posted January 10, 2006 Wow! Talk about a straight on, look into the camera, shot with perfect color sharpness and DOF. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 11, 2006 He seems stunned, looking at you: attractive photographer? :) Just curious, are u converting your JPG to sRGB before you post them? Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 11, 2006 Thanks, guys. Arthur, not sure what you mean. I work on the RAW images and save as a TIF file for printing, then resize and use "Save for Web" for PN. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 11, 2006 I meant converting to sRGB, using Edit>Convert-to-Profile sRGB before save-2-web. Almost all monitors use sRGB as their ColorSpace. If u do not convert, the luminosity may be off when others view it. Just a thot ... Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted January 11, 2006 I think the straight-on 'pose' is pretty unique. Reminds me of, "Here's looking at you, kid." Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 11, 2006 I'll have to try that, Arthur, and see if it makes a difference. I know sometimes I am very disappointed with the way bright colors come out on PN. Mark, I think he was trying to figure out what the heck I was doing! Link to comment
peacecheck 0 Posted January 11, 2006 This little guy appears to be helping out on the proper technic for taking this image. Great capture and timing. Well done and thanks for sharing. Link to comment
birteragland 1 Posted January 12, 2006 Love your bird shots Kim, so different from ours here. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Thanks, David and Birte. We do get some pretty birds around here! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 12, 2006 Kim, I have this vision of all these birds sitting around preening waiting to hop on to The Branch where you take their portrait. Then, 'Next!' . I do the same route as you in converting images for the web. I'll have to try the recommendation above too! Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Colin, it's pretty much that way - right now we have about 2 dozen cardinals, 6 or 8 greenjays, 4 mockingbirds, 4 kiskadees, 4 or 5 titmouse(s) and various sparrows & finches, not to mention hundreds of doves. To get this shot above, I relocated ALL of the food to one area for a short while. Link to comment
