The quality of tones, the delicate toning is astonishing. There is a luminance gradient from upper left to the right side that conveys depth, despite the low-contrast lighting. Good lead-in, nice sky to land ratio. What I like very much is the raising mist. A bit strange for my feeling is the color temperature, I would not expect such a white light at dawn. Anyway, a superb, artful landscape.

Thanks Carsten and you are right. The title is misleading. This isn't dawn it's midmorning. the reference is rather to the estuary 'awakening' from this fog. Hope all is well with you Carsten...

More great stuff David. This is so primordial it oozes! It's all about atmosphere, which it has in bucketloads. Excellent work.

Bubbling, boiling, and as Leigh says, primordial. A border between two worlds. The gradient in the sky really helps keep the balance with the trees.

Very mysteriously composed David, is it a road? that leads to the far away foggy and lighted horizon? a water way? A "wispering" image...

I see you have allowed ratings on this one. If nothing else that will bring the shot to greater visiblitiy on the site.

Thanks Colin. I have been experimenting with putting my work out for ratings again (with little success). I thought it would be good to have more people see it. Then I realized that really did not increase what is actually most important of all -- the comments I receive for people I respect. Great tones. I agree with Leigh that it oozes atmosphere. Lines and tonal transition in the composition are not too shabby either. Best, Jeremy

David, I agree about the nonsense of ratings. They mean very little and I often think how great artists would fair on PN. Not very well I suspect! As I see it the value of ratings in a case like this is that a like-minded person who is not yet aware of your work might get to see it for the first time. regards - Colin

Subtle and understated. Has that impressionistic effect without resorting to blur filters, etc. All done with light. Excellent shot.
