I drove 300 or 400 meters past the shed on a country road that housed

these bouquets of corn and felt a compulsion to return and photograph

it. Good idea or should I have kept going?

It was a very good idea to go back to the bouquets of corn and take a snap but, in my understanding, the problem was with the flash. It was probably night time and the flash could not cover effectively the whole frame. It would have been better to go closer and to photograph a single bouquet of corn with sufficient lighting.

Yes, you are right. It was very late in the afternoon and I just used the built-in flash on my Konica/Minolta Dimage A2
