frank_p 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Classic Bruges (Brugge)! Great composition, excellent lighting, well done! Link to comment
corbin 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Je prefere la version en couleurs, c'etait moins triste (La pluie n'est pas toujours triste!). Le coin gauche est peut-etre un peu trop sombre. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Thank you for your comments. Frank, I believe you are a Belgian, can you say me the meaning of zonnekeemers ? "Zonne", is it the "sun" ? Link to comment
frank_p 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Zon(ne) is sun indeed; the other part of the word either is in the local dialect or is a topographic noun, I guess... Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Excellent tonal quality. The framing with tree and lane is nice, the wet surface of the pavement is shown in a skilled manner. If I had to nit anything, it would be the very centered position of the house corner. Perhaps a step to the right and a panning to the left would have created a slightly more asymmetric composition. Cheers Carsten Link to comment

seandepuydt 2 Posted January 7, 2006 Henri, I've really enjoyed your B&W images; I think you're on to something. This is an excellent image and one of my favorites. - Sean Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 7, 2006 I like the tonal quality very much - beautiful. I see what carsten is saying about the centredness of it but it did not strike me so I am happy with it as it is. Link to comment
gianlucatrogi 0 Posted January 7, 2006 I like your BW in the rain. I think this photo could be better if you crop 1/3 on the left and if you try to include some people. go on friend!!! Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted January 13, 2006 Thank you all for your comments and ratings.Karsten and Gian Luca, the same answer for you two. My first idea was to do a simple photo of the right lane with the first house positionned on the left of the frame. My second idea was to wait for the passing of a biker (there is many bikers in Belgium, like in Holland). As it was rather early in the morning, during my wait I decided to do a photo without biker and a second one of the left lane, in order to make a panoramic view. After that, a biker arrived. I had setted the aperture time on 1/3 second, in order to get a slight moving effect on the biker. But 1/3 second was a too long time and the biker appears like a dark and fuzzy spot without form.Claude, oui, le coin gauche est un peu sombre mais cela me convient, c'est sombre aussi dans la realite. aepelbacher 0 Posted January 14, 2006 Great use of a wide angle! I really like it! The composition is wonderful with that tree on the left, and the wide open, bright street on the right. These small towns in Europe are so charming!!Henri - will you take a look at my most recent image (a shot of some spices at a street market) and help us with the French? Thanks!! :-D Link to comment
Amiti鳬 Fernand Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted September 17, 2006 Merci Fernand, ton commentaire exprime parfaitement ce que j'ai voulu rendre dans cette photo. Link to comment
