german 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Nice idea, exposure and matting. Too bad the wooden fence does not lead the viewer into the scene. Link to comment
ainsa 0 Posted January 4, 2006 I like the lines the fence and the trees in the background describe. Well done. Link to comment
PeterKrenek 26 Posted January 4, 2006 Nice shot, Jiri. The lighting is interesting and exposure just right. I like how the lines of trees create layers where the eye can wander. Link to comment
poutnik 1 Posted January 5, 2006 Thank you all for your comments. GS: I knew that it would have been way better with the fence leading in even when shooting. But there was no way I could manage to compose it so. If I panned a bit to the right, there would be fewer of the layered trees and the eye would be led to a few rather un-pretty buildings on a border of a village. So I had to compromise a bit... I hope it works well this way too... Jiri Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 5, 2006 Jiri, a striking effect with the patches of light and the strong lines of the fence. A distinctive and memorable image. Link to comment
WJT 627 Posted January 6, 2006 I agree with Colin that you have a striking effect here. I do not see much of a problem with leading the eye into the frame, I guess it depends on the viewer. The diagonal of the fence is complimentary to those of the crepuscular sunbeams. The paterns of light and dark formed by the clouds serve well enough to draw me in. Good photograph Jiri!By the way, I'm shooting more NPC now myself. It helps with those high contrast snow scenes for certain. Regards. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 7, 2006 Jiri, especialy good light, very interesting how it is dispersed between the lines of trees, and its diagonal direction in the sky, which is echoing the diagonal of the fence( angle). beautiful image. Link to comment
jana 1 Posted January 11, 2006 Ahoj Jiri, kde to je? lovely lines, I like the fence line leading us to the image, the fact , it does not start at the left edge makes the fantastic composition. P.s. I have some Czech landscapes in Bohemina summer folder and now in the winter - Last update folder) Link to comment

carsten_ranke 0 Posted January 15, 2006 A very good layered composition, with sunrays connecting sky and land. Nice play of light and shadow on the ground. Very good tonal quality. Cheers Carsten Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted January 16, 2006 I like how the relative sizes of the distant trees play out in layers, as if connected by a string. They remind me of Christmas ornaments. Each one has its own little personality. The foregroud parallels the top line on the distant hill. Thanks for the ideas Jiri :o) I may use this one someday... Link to comment
alight 0 Posted October 25, 2006 Magic photo. Actually, I find the fence kind of "teasing", rather than being in the way. Yes, it indeed depends on the viewer's preferences. I like it this way. Jo, Vysocina je krasna. Just pity people haven't taken a better care of the country. Link to comment
