maria 7 Posted January 13, 2006 Avenida de la Liberdade (hopefully spellt OK), is a boulevard leading in Lisbon from the place Marques de Pombal (an important stateman, who rebuilt Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake) to the historic centre in Baixa (the rebuilt quartier, that is). It is imposant, straight, going up (or down, depending on the direction), with numerous rows of trees. This highlight of an intersection with the statue catched my attention actually because of the lower building in the background, the former Hotel Victoria of the architect Cassiano Branco, since I am doing research regarding works of the first half of the XXth century, to which it belongs ... I hope you enjoy the photo, thanks for looking and in advance for any comments! Maria Link to comment
