southernman 0 Posted January 3, 2006 If it were just a plain background..... I could understand the radial blur. But to me, having a person blured out the way you have .......I just don't know. It is still a very cool shot, and some good imagination........T Link to comment
alfarmer 0 Posted January 3, 2006 Like it a lot, but have a technique question. Did you do this in one shot or did you have to take one while zooming and the other one still? Cheers, ALF Link to comment
will king 0 Posted January 3, 2006 Anndra, I'm flattered. Thank you for mentioning my name. I am all for sharing ideas and new concepts to further art, and that's what I think photography is; a form of art. That's why I like your style. You take a ordinary portrait and make it extraordinary. I know there have been nay sayers who complain about your techniques, but I think small minds yeild small imagination. I have always believed that art is created by the mind of the artist, NOT by what the camera sees. I think this is a very effective image. You have the blur effect which leads my eye to the subject, and the subject is contrasted with strong sharpness and great detail. Brilliant. My only feedback would be to clone something into the white portion in the background, near the top center. If you do it before the blur is applied, it will mask it well. Link to comment
anndra 0 Posted January 3, 2006 Thanks Will, I should have realised that the sky would be better if I'd filled it because the blur would mask the cloning so well. Next time ;) Thanks again for sparking ideas! Link to comment
nathan cote 0 Posted January 6, 2006 I really enjoy the tonal qualities in the forground, her expression is an expression of herself im sure. it keeps the viewer looking at her. the background is distracting though, it is out of control. id give this image a 5-6 on aesthetics because it has sharp qualities but only a 4 on originality. applying one photoshop filter really drags the originality down, i keep seeing these single radial blurs being applied to solid images and really its not all that original if it is standard filter in a program. i love some of your other portraits with projections, that has true original aspects to it. anndra 0 Posted January 6, 2006 Thanks Nathan - I can't say with any degree of certainty I always know I'm getting this right, because it's all so new to me. The more I look at it the more inclined I am to agree with the suggestions from yourself and Will. However, I thank you for your candour and for providing me with food for thought - much appreciated ;) Link to comment
john falkenstine 1 Posted January 8, 2006 This is the equivalent of me going to the local acme tool store, finding a wacko tool and then rushing about the house turning and twisting every screw and bending every nail that I have access to.. The end result is a mess.. Link to comment
scott.kuhn 0 Posted January 10, 2006 John, Jealousy is an ugly emotion. You should take more care in masking it Link to comment
john falkenstine 1 Posted February 4, 2006 Oversharpening and Smudging in photoshop is not creative or original. Link to comment
scott.kuhn 0 Posted February 7, 2006 Understanding creativity within photography as it relates to art is obviously quite a struggle for you. All you need to do is look at the other works that Anndra has done. His work speaks LOUDLY for itself. If we ALL had such an incredible skill and passion for our craft/hobby, the world would be a much better place. Link to comment
