Nice dramatic pose... good color and motion freeze... after reading the learning section on photo.net on concert photography I know how tough this stuff is too. What I don't like is the guitarist in the background... with his lighter clothing and better lighting he drew my eye first and when I realized he was out of focus by your necessarily short DOF I had to search for the subject. Try cropping to horizontal just at the top of the guitarists hand - before the white stripe - and he will fall back into the background as he's supposed to be in this shot.

Looks good, editorial-style photo. I don't like the sideways tilt, and I think the angle could be improved (e.g. might look better if you shot from a lower angle). Maybe too much DOF too, not sure. Well exposed, and you've captured a pretty good moment.

Unfortunately, DOF couldn't have been any deeper with the f/2.8 lens I had on the camera at the time, although I agree it is deeper than I could hope for. As for the tilt, I feel it aligns the performers almost perfectly in a vertical line, which was the effect I was going for.

 

I attempted cropping to the top of the bassist's hand, but the shot lost a great deal of its depth when I did. At the absolute most, I think I might crop out his head to lessen his visual impact. When viewed larger, however, I feel there is little doubt as to the subject.
