At Rest - a very appropriate caption. If I were the owner of this sailboat, on this particular day, I'd be tempted to lay back on the shore and just let the boat (and me) rest on the calm day. :-)

Happy new year Howard, I like this PEACEfull image and Kim did say it already, very nice how the sky and water are almost one.

The tones give this photo a very peaceful feeling. I can imagine just sitting there on the beach, looking at the boat and the surroundings and letting the thoughts just flow through your mind without a single attempt to capture one of them...

Though I can't stop wondering what the effect would have been without the grass in the foreground. Especially with the water and the sky meeting each other in perfect harmony at the horizon...

Howard, this works well in general and I think that the grass helps establish foreground and therefore, depth. Compositionally I feel that the boat should've been off center and perhaps take a bit off the top. The mood still communicated effectively, IMO, and the tonality is agreeable.

what I like is that water and sky are one, of course you need the grassy foreground to keep the viewer to the ground as well. The boat a bit more to the left? Maybe.

I.m not a very erudite photo critiquer so I will not be able to come up with great words to describe what I see here(composition and color is what attracts me)the grass is very well incorporated here in the composition and to me the boat looks best where it is .I like this Howard .

I really like this very simple and effective composition. The stillness of the water along with its tone similarity to the sky gives it a dreamy mood. Personally I would have preferred to see the boat placed a little more to the left side. Regards, Alex
