I wanted to upload a winter-y shot for the New Year, but we haven't had much of a winter here in Virginia yet, so I grabbed something from last year that I hadn't posted yet. Enjoy!!

Happy 2006!!!

Happy New Year, Lou Ann! :)

We've had some snow here in Europe, but it all melted on the 31st. Well, better a bit than nothing!

So, Vi ... did you take that picture while driving or while being a passenger? Because it looks like the car was going fast on slippery pavement.... hmmm....

Lou Ann :)) Perhaps it would calm you a little if I told you i was in the... back seat :)) The first picture was actually taken by Lionel Dupre :) who was on the front (passenger's) seat. :)

So, luckily we are all safe and sound! Thanks to Rachel (Lionel's wife) for wonderful driving in horrible conditions!

Very seasonal, although my eyes have trouble focusing (hmmm...could it be the wine I'm having??). No snow here in S Texas. I guess our once-in-a-lifetime event of snow last Christmas will be it for another 100 years.

Do the out-of-focus leaves in the foreground distract? I like that the perpendiculars are out of focus, but the leaves are what are in-focus. Hmmm...

I like the depth it gives, but it does make my eyes strain a bit. Not necessarily a bad thing, because you keep looking.

Lou, this is a great New Years shot. But I don't know why the telephone poles have leaves? Opps pass another Warstiner Pleaseee.

Lou Ann, thanks for your nice wishes. This is wonderful, comes to my mind the paintings of Pollack. Congrats. Mucha suerte en el 06!

I agree with Kim - it keeps you looking, trying to see through the leaves. No snow worth speaking about here in London yet. Happy New Year to you, Lou Ann!

Jakson Pullok( I hope I write correctly his name...) the painter came to my mind as well, nearly an abstract, and the base is the tree's trunks. The leaves color is beautiful, Pnina

When it is not possible to have a long depth of field it is necessary to make a choice of what to put in focus: the foreground or the background. It seems to me that here, because of the branches crossing all the frame, it would have been better to have the focus on them and the trunks rather than on the leaves. Perhaps would you have to do the two shots and choose after the better one ? Regards, and happy new year, Henri.

We have had a 'little' snow here and the picture is from the first day of snowing .... and it got worse. Snowed in for 3 days between X-mas and New Year because we couldn't come up to the main road. The picture is from the main road right before my 'private' road.

Your photo makes an abstract impression and I like it the way it is.

My best wishes and a happy New year Lou Ann.

I agree with Kim and Colin. You keep looking back at it and after a while really want to know what's behind those leaves...

Happy New Year!

Lou Ann- I like the abstract feel to this. My eyes are in "flurry". Must be kind of like how a snow flake feels, "Hummm... where should I land?"

You can keep the snow, it's been exceptionally nice here. 40-60's. Much better than last year with our major ice storm! Strange to see snow on trees with leaves, rather nice!

Well, I guarantee you that there won't be any accumulative snow when the 'Skins visit Qwest field this Saturday! ^_^
