dyowell 0 Posted January 1, 2006 Nice colors and soft light. You can almost smell the clean air! Nice job! Link to comment
jerrymat 4 Posted January 1, 2006 This is profoundly beautiful! I see the 5D does have a wonderful ability to show detail. Of course the texture light helps a lot. I have the feeling that the horizon is lopsided but I can't really see the horizon - maybe it is just an illusion. I am in Edmonds, but your photo convinces me I should travel south. Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted January 1, 2006 Thanks Dick and Jerry. This shot is not a composite which really shows the dynamic range of the 5D is rather good. Jerry the Staircase area of the Olympics is defintely worth a visit. Good shooting ahead for your New Years... Link to comment
jam50 0 Posted January 1, 2006 I agree with Jerry: the image looks like it leans to the right, but it's difficult to tell (I'm judging by the trees). Still, this is a beauty to be proud of. Cheers! James Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted January 1, 2006 David, this is a beautiful landscape, looks like it should be on a card or calendar. 6/6 Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted January 1, 2006 David, beautiful and delicate looking landscape, light is doing that impression.Well started 2006 ! My best Wishes for the new year, thanks for sharing in 2005, Pnina Link to comment
leighperry 0 Posted January 1, 2006 This is a great colour palette David -- rich earthy and subtle all at the same time. I don't mind the tilt -- it adds to a sensation of looking down from an unusual vantage point. Nice work. Regards. Link to comment
frederick eberhart 0 Posted January 1, 2006 This is lovely vision at any size, but for my eyes, when viewed in the larger format, the rich color scheme really reveals itself: the traces of reds in the foreground against the green foliage, and particularly the rich play of light on the mossy rocks, leading down the valley to the warm glow on the fog. A fine image indeed... Link to comment
carsten_ranke 0 Posted January 1, 2006 At last, new stuff from you ! Superb quality tones, filmlike I dare say... What I like the most is the golden light on the high fog in the distance, against the blue shade, and the delicate shades of green. Hard to say if tilted or not, the growth direction of trees is not well-defined. I would not change a thing (BTW, I recommend viewing large) A Happy New 2006 ! Carsten Link to comment
david robinson 0 Posted January 1, 2006 Thanks everyone for your comments. I'm unsure of the tilt -- the clouds make it seem as if there is a tilt and there very well could be. The light and color here are what appeal to me and I am always interested in working out decent compositions especially one like this where the level of complexity makes it interesting. Anyway thanks for taking the time to comment. Carsten, when will we see something new from you? I hope soon. Happy New Year and my wishes for beautiful images in the next year... Link to comment
katzpjs 50 Posted January 1, 2006 Beautiful! Since most of the components are leaning to the right, I'd rotate it left Three degrees.PS, The full sized image could be rotated with much less cropping than I was forced to do. Link to comment
sef1664877429 0 Posted January 2, 2006 I'm not sure the tilt correction adds anything, and too many interesting details are cropped out. Great atmosphere, though, and at least the tilt has a destination... the distant valley and landscape of fog and clouds beyond it. Little hints of red in foreground are interesting. Link to comment
daily_photograph 0 Posted January 3, 2006 Rotating is very unhealthy for the tree on the left, my favourite ... Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted January 5, 2006 The soft background is beautiful with its lights. THe foreground of trees are detailly beautiful too. Like I am looking from the forest edge into a hidden haven. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted January 7, 2006 Wonderful colours and detail, David. Whenever I look at shots like this I keep thinking I must get a 5D....The rotation issue doesn;t bother me. Beautiful light. Link to comment
jan symank 0 Posted January 16, 2006 Very beautiful colours and light. The red spots of the flowers in front are a great detail. Regards, Jan Link to comment
mspanakis 0 Posted March 6, 2006 Beautiful delicate sunlight. The tilt (if any) gives it additional interest and originality. Link to comment
