About one month ago I loaded this photo and requested critique but

it had very little success and no one critique. If you give low

ratings, could you tell me what does'nt work in it ? Thank you and

happy new year.

I like it a lot! the catstone and the modern concrete, separated by the buildings - nice.

Though the angle is a bit too much in the straight diagonal line for my taste. I also would have tried to push back the dominant blue, any dot of an other colour would improve it even more.

Thank you Peter. The dominant blue is due to the overcast sky and rainy weather. It is very difficult to remove it because there is almost only blue in the photo (except by colorization but this is not what I want). Regards.

Hello Henri, this is an interesting image, but I find myself wondering, why look in the gutter when you can look in the sky?

Very best for 2006

I must have missed this one when you uploaded it first, Henri. I like the way you have got the reflection in the water. It might work toned in a different colour as well.

Even the gutter has something to offer when we open our eyes to the world ... ; ) The blue creates the mood here. Most interesting.

Happy New Year and keep snapping. Eileen

I like the last one best. But both are interesting, not only for the dominant blue, but for the diagonal composition which works here extremely well. (Happy new year.)

Both very good photos Henry, the other one more dominant and dynamically in lines, this one with more attention to the reflected old houses. I find myself (still using film) having same problems with overcast sky...or near sunset.. blue or magenta..specially with long exposures with slow film.. no whitebalance or whatsoever to get colors straight.. less cyan looks better to me sure. Also reason for me to switch soon to the digital world...
