hanna_cowpe 0 Posted December 31, 2005 Bill, you do get some interesting abstracts in some of your water images. I really like the light and form in the rock and the tension between it and the underwater rock next to it. The blues, greens and browns also work well together. But my eye keeps wandering down to the light blurred area at the bottom of the frame. When I slide the image down my screen until that strip is gone, I find it easier to look at. Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted March 20, 2006 It's amazing how many different patterns there are in the way water flows around a rock. I must have taken 1000 of them now, but they still fascinate me (probably not anyone else though).:-) Anyway, this was a rock in the Little River in the Smokies. I love how worn it is since it's probably underwater about half the year .... Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 20, 2006 Well, I can't speak for everyone else, but I love images capturing the movement of water around rocks as well. The texture you've captured in that rock is very pleasing, almost looks metallic. I agree with Hanna about that bright strip along the bottom. Could benefit with either cropping it, or just darkening it. The composition is very good, and the light on the rock and water is excellent. Link to comment
billfoster 0 Posted March 20, 2006 Thanks, Bond. I agree with both of you about the stripe. I think it's actually a leaf that got in the frame after I set the timer ( or I was just careless .... nah, we'll go with the moving leaf version). Anyway, I've already fixed it but I don't like to change my versions on PN because I want the comments to still make sense. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted March 20, 2006 LOL...now that you call it a moving leaf it just adds to the dynamic. You should edit your comment to reflect that you actually waited for the leaf to enter the frame at the bottom right to offset the rock and to provide the necessary balance to the compostion. Then if you did that though, this comment wouldn't make any sense, and I'd have to go back and selectively edit. Oh well. Actually what I've seen done and done myself is to just change the posting, then attach the original to a comment in the thread if anyones interested. Doesn't actually make for the comments being any less confusing, but then again the threads attaching themselves to some of my photos don't make much sense. I just meant this to be a small comment. I'm done now. Link to comment
