jvophotography 0 Posted December 30, 2005 WOW! Stunning shot Marc. The light, of course, makes this. Coming through that center area there makes this just unique. There are so many seascape shots and stuff like Richard VanHousel (SP?)offers up (incredible) makes it a subject I don't want to tackle simply because there are folks like you and him that do such an amazing job at it. Lovely shot. I wish there was a touch more colors in the sky but that is a nit pick. Great shot! Link to comment
bradkim 8 Posted December 30, 2005 Another stunning catch of the light.... How do you like your 5D? Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted January 4, 2006 Sunbeams catching the misty sea air shining through this massive arch on Oregon's North Coast. No special effects or manipulations. Link to comment
will king 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Marc, You can't be stopped. really like how the sun's rays casts through the hollow rock. Where is this? Link to comment
somaya_essawy 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Excellent representation. Lighting and reflection are great. It looks like a paint. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted January 4, 2006 Will, this is Ecola State Park - near Astoria. At low tide, you can find this display of light on most evenings! It's about two miles walk from either of the two trailheads at the park. Link to comment
gregevansphotography 1 Posted January 4, 2006 This in an incredibly beautiful photo. Very well done. Thank you for posting. Link to comment
jbrand 0 Posted January 4, 2006 I like everything about this photograph. The exposure is right on, and the saturation is typical for Velvia. Great composition and perfect dof. This scene must have inspired you to shoot several rolls of film! Link to comment
jnicholson 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Very nice composition, Marc. I don't know how you feel about irregular crops but it also makes a nice picture cropped top and bottom to remove the sand and the blue sky. Nice work. Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted January 4, 2006 John, my appologies. This was a digital capture that was mistakenly labeled as Velvia - default from my many other submissions captured on film. I used a Canon EOS 5D. I processed the RAW file and tried to emulate the characteristics of Velvia that I enjoy. Nothing here that was not in the original file though. The lighting and colors are an accurate representation of the moment excepting a little blue in the shadow areas. Link to comment
kahkityoong 0 Posted January 4, 2006 Great light show and colours. The shadows and reflections top off a great capture. Link to comment

mg 0 Posted April 30, 2006 This is quite something too ! Very unique. Among my favorites of yours as well... Cropped? Any chance to see the full frame ? Link to comment
buck forester 0 Posted May 25, 2006 Now that's magic lighting! Gorgeous image! Funny thing, I saw this image, as well as one of my kayaking Mono Lake images, in one of those PowerPoint photo presentations making the email rounds... it was supposed to be images of Canada, ha ha! Do you shoot exclusively with your 5D now, or do you also shoot with Velvia? I'm thinking about a 5D (I don't like the crop factor on my 20D, plus many publications prefer larger file sizes than my 20D gives me), but I still love my Velvia 50 for landscapes. What are your thoughts about the 5D vs. Velvia 50? Gracias, Senor, it's always a pleasure to see a true wilderness landscape artist at work! Link to comment
marcadamus 1 Posted May 30, 2006 hehe. That happens all the time. Anyway, I shot exclusively with the 5D until I fell into a swift river and nearly went down with my camera. I'm either buying a replacement or a 1Ds2 right now. I love the 5D and really have no complaints other than the price tag. I don't shoot 35mm Velvia much at all any more. The enlargement capabilities of the 5D totally blow away even the best drum scans from 35mm. Link to comment
indra p, humblefisherman 0 Posted January 10, 2007 very nice.. i really like the view.. Link to comment
al719 0 Posted July 28, 2007 Marc, Other than receiving a bunch of kudos for fellow photographers I wouldn't know why you would want this image examined. I surely enjoyed it and would feel fortunate to witness some version of my own. Buy Marc.....You know you had a great shot. Come on man! Link to comment
vadim_makarov 0 Posted July 28, 2007 Aargh! This one would benefit immensely from cropping, on all four sides. The amount of cropping on each side may vary (there are several possible compositions), but the pucture is just begging for a tighter composition. Right now there are too many things visible in it besides the main focus. Link to comment
