Really great shot Joy - You've captured the moment nicely. I personally have always liked my sunset shots to be a little warmer though. I used a pretty basic photo editor for this, I just warmed the photos up a bit, tweaked the horizon and did a tighter crop.

 

I've found with practise that placing the horizon right across the middle of the photo doesn't add to the dramatic effect. You'll see on a few of my photos (one with a single boat - a lot of water, one with girl on beach, a lot of sand) that I excentuate either the ground or the sky. To me, it helps create the desired effect. This photo would have been difficult to do that becuase you are trying to get both the reflections and the sun - however, in your future shots, try to remember the tip and try it out. Phuket..Is that in Thailand? A friend of mine just came home with HUNDREDS of pictures that she asked me to "make pretty" from Thailand and I remember seeing that name on a sign in one of her pictures!

 

BTW...I prefer the cooler version of the sunset! I'm a little whimsical so to me the coolness adds whimsy and makes the picture appear almost dream-like. AND this is from the queen of crooked horizons! haha...You have no idea how many times I've been critiqued on my crooked horizons! I'm glad there is another member in my club! LOL

I don't agree with Dave, because I think th fact you've placed the subject in the center is a good idea and place this couple at the main subject. I like this picture and blue colors reinforce the power of the ocean and sky, so, just perfect. Maybe a little bit raise of quality (meilleure r鳯lution ou meilleure nettet驠should be fine.
