davidmccracken 2 Posted December 27, 2005 I really have no idea why I took this photo. I realise the noise is a bit much in the dark areas on this reduced size upload. It looks fine on the full size TIF. Feedback Appreciated. Should there be anyone looking for my more daring work, you can always do a search for me on photopoints or photosig where I have uploaded some of my deleted images and where I will be uploading more soon. jayme 0 Posted December 27, 2005 David- I love the composition, color & light. I can't help but think it would even be more eye-catching if you sharpened it just a little. Nice title too ;) Very creative! As usual. Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted December 27, 2005 Creative composition but the plum is not sharp enough. Will be very good if it is. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 28, 2005 Jayme / Cherlyn, You have both made similar comments and I must admit I cannot argue with you. I can only assume it was the resizing that did this. I only noticed the noise when I resized it. Thank you both. Link to comment
alecee 0 Posted December 28, 2005 Noise? What noise? I think it's only a bit soft but the resolution and exposure is very good. Happy New Year David and I'm sure you enjoyed Christmas with your merry company. ^_^ Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 29, 2005 David, I have a few questions and then I'll comment on the photo. What compelled you to make this plum satellite? Were you inspired by something, cleaning the fridge, or perhaps bored? Did a model cancel out on you? I ask because I find the creative thought process fascinating AND revealing. What the heck are those things you've used to peirce this helpless plum? To the photo....I like the centered composition with the dramatic diagonals. Of course, red is always a good choice. I'm not so sure the plum is soft but might appear that way due to the way the light is hitting it (glare?). I don't notice any noise. Regardless of techincal elements, this is simply a fun and unexpected rendering of a plum and some stick things that compel the viewer to ask "What the hell...?" I'll never look at plums the same way again. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 29, 2005 Alec, What noise? Indeed a good question. Before I uploaded this picture the image was 'nosiy' and the plum was sharp. By the miracle or magic of the internet, the plum has gone soft and the noise has disappeared. Go figure! Thanks for the time. It is always appreciated. Jana, Thanks! I like to have fun! Laurie, Where to start? I think I have answered the points about the softness and noise in my reply to Alec. The things sticking out of the plum are chopsticks. What compelled me? That is not so easy to answer. In truth I was helping a friend to take some photos and when she was finished I thought I would have a go at something myself. I think you have answered most of the points yourself with the statement, "What the hell!" Thanks everyone! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 30, 2005 at first glimpse this appeared to be a cherry and at that moment my mind began to swim and then all was lost. I dont see any noise and I'll have to ditto the diagonal lines made by the sticks. Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted December 31, 2005 Knicki, The mind boggles! A cherry. Do enlighten us to what you were thinking. Jayme, There is no Sputnik 2 in the can so to speak but I am always open to requests. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 3, 2006 I must confess that I too thought this was a cherry at first glance. I'll let Knicki elaborate on the potential resulting thoughts. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted January 5, 2006 I thought it was a cherry at first, myself...and what remains of my brain went off into all sorts of allegorical/metaphorical tangents. And do I need to tell you that if you rotated the image clockwise, the plum would look remarkably like...well, never mind David...you get the idea. Don't you? Link to comment
jim hayes 0 Posted January 5, 2006 If all of you don't think that this was an attempt by Mr. McCracken to circumvent the smut factor then I beg to differ. There is not a doubt in my mind(what little there is left of it) that this really is a cherry, and a cherry by any other name is still a cherry. I expect this to be gone by the end of the day. I really don't know who is worse, you or us, your fans. ;-) JH Link to comment
davidmccracken 2 Posted January 6, 2006 You must have some strange cherries on your side of the world. I assure you it is a plum. Jim A, as for rotating it clockwise, I have no idea what you mean. You believe me don't you? Jim H, I assme when you refer to fans you are reffering to Jim A. I don't think I have any apart from you fine guys! Link to comment
