Hi Cherlyn, did you really go across the desert? Looks very stark and forboding. Gul is now in Tibet and he should be seeing similar views like this but the temperature is -10C. Not a very good time to go.

Did you have a good time at the Silk route?

Alec, don't think he can see desert view in Tibet as I have been there before too. But he will see beautiful lakes & snow mountains. Indeed too cold to go Tibet now. Usually the last tour to go there is around Nov, which is the month that I go & we are the last group to embark to Tibet then. Cold + high altitute sickness is not easy to endure. Hope he has a nice time there.

Cherlyn,You offer a beautiful look into the dunes.I like how the light seem to blow through the the dunes, and how the far away hill is centered in between

A beautiful view of the desert - not at all like the deserts I'm accustomed to seeing. The bright and dark spots add interest though the photo needs a bit of a focal point. Love the photo - thanks for posting. Regards.

You are very sharp, DP. Yes I use the lighting effect in the filter gallery . Otherwise the whole image looks very flat.

I can't decide that it is a normal or superb photo. it is very nice , also very simple. I just know that the light is wonderful on the sand.

And I have a question from members and you:

I think if anyone else(an unknown artist) had taken this photo, it might be a low rated photo. I say this because I have seen . but I saw that your's is about 6. isn't it because your viewers know you and rate your works based on your other works?

I don't mean you or your photo and I don't want to upset you, I mean photos and photographers in photoNet. I mean that the rates we gain are based on the past.

Am I right ? or not.

at the end I apologize if I said anything rude, and merry christmas again.

Mohsen, I can't answer for other members but I'll tell you how I view photos. I don't rate photos that I personally feel that I don't like or somehting is lacking(but I would leave a comment on what I think can be improved or what I don't like ) for those whom I know. For those that I don't know I would just skip or leave behind a comment of ways of improvement but I won't give them low ratings. I find that it will discourage this people.

I can only say that Photo net is a big family of friends & we would like to encourage each other to do better. If you rate them low or give very bad comments, it will lower their morales & who knows, they might quit from photo net. I feel bad/sad when I see some photographers asking "WHY" low ratings without a single comment. No one bothers to tell them what's wrong with their photo. They just rated low & go.

For me, I have learnt a lot here. My dear PN friends try to correct & improve my photos by giving me suggestions & teaching me how to do them. I know you have been following my works & I appreciate your support.

Not to worry, I don't feel offended. Happy New Year to you.

Cherlyn, the light here is the main actor, and is accentuating the folds of the sand dunes. nice image. I like the other one a bit beter because the people and camels are adding a lot to the dunes. Pnina
