What do you think of it? I'm in doubt; better to crop, better in B&W?

I'm very interested in your opninion and suggestions.

I'll appreciate your comments,

This is quite a couple, Ada: his curls and beard; her funny hat ( made me think Of Mary Poppins) make for a very original portrait. I'd try it in B&W or sepia.

Thank you Pnina and Paula for your kind comments. Yes indeed it was a couple;) She was almost a head higher than he is and though she was very kind she wears the trousers, but it was as clear as day that they were very happy with eachother.

Paula, the black and white version I have already in store. I will work for a sepia one. No crop?

I'm searching for work this evening, you see:))) LOL

Many greetings, Ada~)

The priesthood: vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience, I believe. Well, two out of three ain't bad.

Nice one, Ada.

Ah, a goodmorning Lannie. Nice to meet you on this sunny Christmas day. I think chastity isn't under discussion here; his eyes are full of mischief. Besides, they were on their way backhome to the presbytery and I bet that he has broken one of the three solemn vows and I don't blame him!:)

Groetjes uit Holland!:~)

Holla Julio,

Gracias mucho por su gran comentario. Los grados no son importantes para mi.

Saludos de Holanda:~)

Very nice, Ada - and I agree with Ken Th. - either alone would be a good subject. You have done wonderful things with the light here on the two of them, and the colors...They are interesting and look as if they would be fun to know! Good job, as always, dearest! Groetjes - Lee

I think this is a great portraits of the couple. The crop I think is great. The clothing they are wearing looks old but I am sure that is is what they wear today is that correct Ada? I would think this could make a good black and white. Have you shown the couple the photo I bet they are very pleased with it.

Thank you all dear friends for your kind words.

Perhaps I will follow your idea Ken to make a crop of the woman as well as the man. I've already thought about it myself but for some reason I can't separate those two people.

Hi Lee, they were real very kind people and enjoy live, for as for I could estimate.

Michael, your very close to the true. Last September Rob and I visited Middelburg and Veere (small and historic port town nearby Middelburg in the Southwest of The Netherlands). In Veere the market vendors had kept their annual fair. They celebrated it in the evening with a dinner in the open air (A long row of market stalls, and I quess about 120 people sat at the tables). The priest (in fact a market vendor of antique) passed the bottles of wine round again. His wife sat at the other end of the long row and waved her hat to him each time. Rob and I have enjoyed the party from a distance while we drunk a cup of coffee at a terrac across the street. It was a coincidence that we met this couple again on the parkingplace some hours later. Because they had attract my attention because of their clothes and the charisma they possesed I asked them if I was allowed to take a picture of them. They were very tired and told us that they were portretted already hundred times that day. But allright, they were so kind to poses for me.

Because the background of the parkingplace wasn't really nice I've used a picture I made earlier that day in Middelburg as a background. I really don't know where this couple lives and I'm actually very curious to what they would say about this portrait. I think I need to go back to Veere to ask people about them. I'm sure when I show them this shot they can tell me more about this very particular couple. When I had finished this portrait I have tried to forget what I had seen that day and I imagine myself which impression this image give to me. That brought me to the priest and his housekeeper. I'm sure they will see the joke of it. I hope once I will get the chance to hand over this portrait to them.

Richard and Biliana thank you both for your great comments. You know I always appreciate your visits very much.

Ja, leuke mensen he?

You fooled me with that background. Your PS work has harmonised the colours well and made the background more interesting. I will never believe anything I see in any photo of yours again!
