aepelbacher 0 Posted December 23, 2005 Taken through the security fence in front of the White House. I wish that the Christmas decorations on the balconies were more easily seen. It was about 15 or 30 minutes before sunset, and bone-chilling cold. Merry Christmas!! Link to comment

sondra kick 0 Posted December 23, 2005 Beautiful lighting on the White House. I think I would crop the right side making the image a vertical. 5/5 Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted December 23, 2005 It's a nice cottage, Lou Ann, but I understand that a real idiot lives there.Nice shot, in any case. I'm glad that the snipers on the roof didn't pick you off.The security obsession reminds me of the Cold War era in so many ways:O, we're meetin' at the court houseat six o'clock tonight. You just come in the door and take the first turn to the right.Be careful when you get there. We'd hate to be bereft, but we're takin' down the names of every turnin' left. . . .--Lannie Link to comment
Landrum Kelly 64 Posted December 23, 2005 The last line should read "everybody turnin' left." That was from "The John Birch Society" by the Chad Mitchell Trio, c. 1963. But in the spirit of the season, Merry Christmas to George II as well. . . . --Lannie Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted December 24, 2005 Sondra - this is another shot from the same visit. When I put the two side by side, I had trouble deciding, but chose this one because it's off-center, and for some reason, I liked that better. Lannie - you never fail to make me smile. :-) Thanks for sharing! Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 24, 2005 Lou Ann, I have written you here ,but forgot to confirm...( very typical...), Now I see both versions and each has its own merit, I like the light on the house and the composition is nice. The second one has better details as it is closer. so thats what I think, each has its own merit, and it is a nice image of the house. Pnina Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 25, 2005 As Pnina says both shots work well. Being a West Wing fan I expect to see Martin Sheen there to make it look more true-to-life! Nice light. Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted December 27, 2005 Hi Colin! I enjoy The West Wing, too ... but don't often get a chance to watch it. I'm more of a "24" fan ... so I would actually be more likely to expect to see Dennis Haysbert (David Palmer) wandering around. :-) So - you Brits have to be entertained by shows about our President? Isn't there a serial about Number 10 Downing Place? ;-) Merry Christmas & Happy New Year!! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 28, 2005 Yes, there was a program about life in UK politics. The first series was called 'Yes Minister' which was followed by 'Yes, Prime Minister' so it moved into No 10. It was a comedy rather than a drama - maybe a comment on how we see politics over here! Mrs Thatcher appeared in it once and was a cringingly awful actor! 24...my daughter has the DVD's...maybe I'll give it a whirl. Merry Christmas (bit late!) and my best wishes to you in the New Year.
