This is Michelle, French-born, French-accented boat-yard worker at

Moss Landing, California during a moment while he is hard at work

filling seams between planks of this old, blue-colored wooden boat

hull directly behind him in 'drydock' near my home. Your ratings

and critiques are welcome and most appreciated. (If you rate

harshly or very critically, please submit a helpful and constructive

comment/Please share your superior knowledge to help improve my

photography!) Thanks! Enjoy! John

If one went the world over searching for interesting 'color combinations' one might not be so lucky to find something to propitious as this particular combination, found unposed (I called for this man's attention as he was working, after framing him, and he turned), and this was the result. Notice the lovely colors and color combinations. How often in life does one find such color coordination? It's interesting to me that no one has commented on that, as I think that is the heart of this photo.

(Besides, ladies, I think that Michelle is a good looking buy, but who am I to judge -- after all I'm a guy and a bad judge of guy's looks.)

(Note to Knicki, if you happen to be browsing: any thoughts? At least for Moss Landing boatyard he's got all his teeth -- no apparent meth use -- and he appears sensible and intelligent)

Excellent portrait. His eyes are very alive and the sense of interruption makes the image compelling. Good use of background. If you had used a faster shutter you might have gotten more in focus when he swung his head around and I think it would have been even nicer, but, so what? This is the image you got and it's a good one.

Axel Rose? I'm with the last commenter (my short term memory is exactly that... "short". Think it was Peter though) that ideally a faster shot would've avoided the blur. On the positive side though you really got a "10" composition here (off center, leaning in, nothing cut off, horizontal leaning complimented by the horizontal boards etc..) and the expression and intimacy caught in his eyes. As for colors, I personally am now "green" with envy (wish I could approach total strangers with superhuman ease & come away with shots like these (hey, that rhymes!)). Anyway, long and the short... very very good shot
