maria 7 Posted December 27, 2005 Marques de Pombal rebuilt Lisbon after the 1755 earthquake. The place is an important circulation node in the town, featuring in its middle a statue of the Marques. In November this year there were renovations of the pavement, so I found that a good angle is from the park behind it (Lisbon is hilly), even if in countre-jour. Also this way the vista was open till the Tejo river, along a representative boulevard called Avenida de la Liberdade (I think - in any case Liberdade I recall well, since in Romanian freedom is Libertate). It leads down to the Baixa quarter, which was exactly the one rebuilt by the Marques. thanks for looking and reading, looking for comments, Happy Holidays to everybody! Maria Link to comment
