Young Cloakroom Attendant (cross-processed)

bueh

This picture was taken at the freshman party of a local Art & Design college. The young lady here was attending the cloakroom while I waited for my coat, so I snapped a quick shot.
I used a Toshiba ES-7 bounced upwards with a postcard-sized card (as recommended here)to get ceiling bounce and some diffused fill flash. The flash unit was in automatic mode set at f/4. Nevertheless the shutter was dragged to get some ambient lighting, too. This picture was taken at minimum focus (0.8m / 2.6ft), where I "guestimated" the distance.
The film was cross-processed in C-41 chemistry and pushed 1/3 stop. Except for this the image is not manipulated and not cropped. Poor flatbed scan.

Hi Bueh, and thanks for your input on my quiery concerning slide film... That's a great shot you have here, great comp, and expression, hern overexposed face blends the features and her mouth and eyes just pop out of the shot... I really like that one!

I don't like this at all.  I do not mean to be unkind so I feel I should explain my reasoning.

This reminds of me of the so-called "art" created by people in the '60s while they were on a bad acid trip.  Back in those days, I would have fallen more into the anti-narcotics group of people and additionally was concerned about the possibility of the long term effects that would become evident years after taking LSD.  I am again reminded that I made a good decision at that point in my life.

I'm an old fart.  Back when I took pictures, you tried to do such things as keep body movement down and not cut off the tops of heads.  Even when just shooting snapshots of family events or sight-seeing icons, the photographer tried to pick out or create something unique or of interest or perhaps particularly indicative of the time, place, or space.

Times and tastes sure have changed.
