I was taking some shots in low sunlight at this little footbridge

near where I live when the horse and rider came past. This is two

shots, sky and land, taken at the same time. All comments welcome!

Colin,First thing waking up,I saw this .The spirit is upbeat.I like the entrance, the silvery looking railing of the bridge, leading you to the flare of the rider moving on the sunny grass,a beautiful start of the day.An original landscape.Enjoy Your Christmas Alix

great use of the wide angle. The horse and rider have just the right amount of movement... very well executed. Very dreamlike to me. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks Oasis, Alexandra, Kaushik, Julio, Steve and Pnina! I appreciate your kind comments. I was not expecting to see the horse and rider so it was a bit of luck to catch them.

Alix - thank you - and my best wishes to you at Christmas.

Steve, I'm pleased you mentioned the dream idea.

Pnina, thanks I was trying to catch the sky reflection from the water when the rider came along.

Wow, as if I can walk across the bridge, vey 3-dimenisional. Very good light & colours. The rider adds life & motion to a still landscape. Beautiful work.

A surrealistic feel to this one Colin... like it very much. I get the sense of being on a journey, it tells a story but not sure what the story is.

Guess that doesnt make sense.

Merry Christmas sir Colin!

It looks like a bridge to the past. A bridge partly made with modern materials (the steel) set against that wide landscape with the horse and rider which could be coming out of the 18th century.

Asides from that, it's a wonderful combination of colours and reflection, with the bridge as the perfect leading point to go and see what's behind it.

Very strong composition and photo overall. There is lots of little things that make it successful. First, the bridge that really lead the eyes into the photo. Then, you have the horse. Without it, this would be simply a nice landscape photo but not more, even with the exceptional way you lead the viewer into the photo. And lastly, the other important thing I see is the overall directional lightning. Shadows on the left and more light on the right, where the horse is going and where our eye is going after crossing the bridge.

Also lots of small things that helps. Nice sky, nice reflection of the tree in the water. Very nice. Congratulation.

Thanks A.K. ,Sondra, Cherlyn, Regina, Ilse, Stephane and Paula!

Regina, Cherlyn, Ilse thanks for your interpretations. I see the horse as a symbol of freedom and the bridge is a way of getting there. But it was just luck they are in the shot at all so maybe the horse is just a horse!

Thanks Sondra, Stephane and Paula for your thoughts on the shot.

Very expressive and dramatic the wide angle perspective here, and the horse is surely the "icing on the cake", well seen. A bit surreal feeling, great shot. Handheld ?

Cheers

Colin, you always seems to be at your best on or around bridges no matter what type. Interesting scene beautifully rendered -- these tonal gradations are very pleasing. Happy Holidays Colin...

This is very nice, Colin. It reminds me of some of the very unsafe looking bridges that I often saw when I lived in West Virginia.
