iren 1 Posted December 22, 2005 What a loving moment captured! The infants relaxed hand indicates to me that she feels safe and the contrast between the tiny hand and the strong father's hand adds a real caring touch. Congrats! Iren Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted December 22, 2005 Ran across this one in my files recently & decided to play some more with black and white conversion. Thoughts? Too busy? Too contrasty? Too good? (yeah right!) Anyway, the owner of this hand is now 1 1/2 so I can't exactly re-do it, but any ideas on post production would be very helpful. Thanks Link to comment
danielletoews 0 Posted December 22, 2005 I like how you framed the baby's hand with a larger one. I also love the clarity Link to comment
garint 0 Posted December 22, 2005 I Love it! I see two long life lines, one for the childs future and one for your future in photography. Keep shooting I love your work. ~ Garin Link to comment

doug bowles 0 Posted December 22, 2005 Not bad, but this kind of thing is rather overdone, and I suspect it has way more value to you as a parent than to us as an audience. In this case, that's a good thing. Pretty good use of light...I'm guessing you were standing in sunlight? Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted December 22, 2005 This was a while ago, so I'm taking an educated guess, but I think this was at the hospital with window-light. Relatively sure that I'm shooting with my right hand while holding her's with my left (hence, less than perfect sharpness) I know they're cliche's but they're "my" cliche's as the saying goes. Good memories too. Thanks for stoppin by Link to comment
michaelging 1 Posted December 23, 2005 I too like the contrast between the hand size. I do think the photo would be much stronger if you cropped the left side of the photo, to the edge of the Adults hand, and maybe some off the right side of the print where its white with no detail. It would bring your eye back to the suject and clean up the composition. I also think you need a fuller range of tones in the photo, this looks a little flat.If this is your child ,I would suggest you take this photo every year or so ,to show how the hands change over time. I did this with the bottom of my sons feet as he grew up from age 1 month to age 18. Thanks for sharing it. Link to comment
someoneelse 1 Posted December 24, 2005 a helping hand..... I love this storie, a lot off shadow and not easy to look at.... but I am still looking...... that's MY clich鮮.. it hold my eye... I am looking at 5 little fingertops, an open little hand..... a new life I like it Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted December 24, 2005 I was wondering if maybe the shadows had gotten away from me in the levels and black and white conversion. The original was a little blown out on the right side...maybe I over-did it? thanks for stopping by p.s., michael; great idea (will have to wait till she's asleep though as she holds still for NOTHING :-) Link to comment
