michael_gibbons1 0 Posted December 15, 2005 An interesting perspective. Great detail in the foreground and the distant building. A moody atmosphere, love it. Great shot. Link to comment
pjmeade 12 Posted December 15, 2005 Hello Henri, this is an excellent study and your control of the exposure is very good. It's the kind of shot you can buy as a sepia postcard in Bruge. I like it a lot. Did you take any photos of the railway station? I rather liked the art deco painting in the main hall and the design of the place. Very best wishes. By the way, that mountain shot of mine is Wales, not Scotland. Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted December 15, 2005 Thank you Peter. No, I did'nt take any photo of the railway station. In fact, we arrived at the station about two hours before hour train and, since the sun was suddenly back, we decided to have a last walk in the town, where I took some photos at the "Lake of love".Sorry to have confused a Wales landscape with Scotland. Perhaps are they very similar ? I don't know very well Wales. I just have go through it towards Scotland in the eighties and we just stoped at Port Meirion, the "village" of the TV serial "The Prisonner".Regards, Henri Link to comment
aepelbacher 0 Posted December 15, 2005 I like this a lot, Henri! He's right about the exposure. The contrast between the dark tunnel and the bright background create a lovely image. And I love all of the textures. Wonderful!! Link to comment

Guest Guest Posted December 16, 2005 Like I said on your presentation your B/W photos really are excellent. Link to comment
owp 0 Posted December 16, 2005 Henri, excellent shot. You did a great job of adding interest in the way that you framed Notre-Dame. Link to comment
sondra kick 0 Posted December 18, 2005 Henri, this is great. I love the textures in the brick walk and the different contrasts. Link to comment
uk 0 Posted December 18, 2005 Henri, this is my new favourite of your images. Very well seen, exposed and presented. The wet cobbles are 'alive'. Great work. Link to comment
sawicki 0 Posted December 18, 2005 the tower on the right spoils the composition a bit, but I think this is not your fault - they could have built the church differently. Great light and usage of this gate/door here. Link to comment
lauro1 0 Posted December 18, 2005 In the strict sense of the word, I think this is a Romantic work. Beautiful contrast, and balanced light and shadow. Une image tres puissante et belle. Link to comment
alexguerra 0 Posted December 19, 2005 The sharpness of the church at the back is very impressive and the details of the wet floor on the foreground makes it look 'alive'. Superb photo! (deserves a 7 but unfortunatelly can't give it now) Link to comment
1000wordsphotography 0 Posted December 19, 2005 My new favorite on the site ~ just wonderful in every sense. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 19, 2005 I like the composition here very much and the tonal quality ahs accentuated the light reflecting off the cobbles well. Parts of Wales and Scotland can look similar but it is best not to say so when in the company of Welsh or Scots people! Link to comment
ada-ipenburg 0 Posted December 21, 2005 Your Bruges pictures in B&W are really great, Henri; so completely different from their colour versions. In some cases I like them even more in B&W. This picture is such an example of it. I like to see the wet cobble stones and the view onto the wonderful cathedral framed by the dark gate. Great work Henri! Many greetings, Ada:~) Link to comment
davidroossien 0 Posted December 30, 2005 I like how the blacks in the foreground contrast the subject, and especially the glisten on the black stones. Link to comment
marioeg 0 Posted March 14, 2006 Eccelllente in tutto: composizione, luce, contrasto, atmosfera mistica! Davvero complimenti! Link to comment
todd_mcdonald 0 Posted June 5, 2006 Powerful image...the angle is fabulous, but the light is very dream-like. Link to comment
gianlucabasso 0 Posted June 12, 2006 This is simply great, the wet on the stones, and the winter mood. Link to comment
