j_m_lee_photography 0 Posted December 15, 2005 The Old Testament refers to Israel as the Land of Milk and Honey. This metaphor suggests comfort, sweetness, and peace. I like the portrait of him with good shadow and lighting. Shalom to Israel. Link to comment
alexandra rauh 0 Posted December 15, 2005 Pnina I like how the light comes from the side, his thoughts remain in the shade. wonderful human beeing expression.Nice to see him gathering with the bees, part of nature Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 15, 2005 To all of you! Spencer, You know seeing hime I thought as you, about a country of "milk and honey"... from the bible. The man is from a religious settlement not far from Tel- Aviv. Pnina Link to comment
sarahunderhill 1 Posted December 15, 2005 Pnina, I love the full shot of this man that you included! The pose, the way he is looking over.... Link to comment

jim kerr 0 Posted December 16, 2005 Pnina, You always seem to capture at least a part of the essence of your subject personality in your informal portraits. There seems to be an unusual gentleness in this fellow, and he seems to be more interested in others than most......Jim Link to comment
delp 0 Posted December 16, 2005 I thought about a monk too. Very sad face he has indeed ... but that makes the strength of his expression. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 17, 2005 Jim, I don't know the man, it was a random meeting, but I think that you are right in your assesment of him, he was so very nice and helpful. Thanks Thanks as well Lionel . Happy holidays and new year,to both of you Pnina Link to comment
cherlyn 1 Posted December 17, 2005 Great portrait of this bushy beard man. Good use of the light too. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 17, 2005 I can see how he concentrates on the task - he is taking care. Good detail and lighting under tricky conditions. Link to comment
kslonaker 0 Posted December 17, 2005 I find the lighting a little harsh, but I suspect that making this sepia may work. There isn't a whole lot of color anyway, so it wouldn't detract anything there, imo. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 17, 2005 Thanks Cherlyn Colin, and Howard. Kim, I was going home when I met him nearly mid day, the sun too high, and strong mediterranean light, but it was a special opportunity, and I took what was possible, I tried it in sepia, and brighten it a bit, but I like the original. thanks for stopping by. richard hans 0 Posted December 17, 2005 Superb details & lighting, and nicely crop Pnina! Yes, I like the great layers of the original . Best regards. Link to comment
atkphotoworks 0 Posted December 17, 2005 Between the sepia and the colour version, I prefer the latter Pnina. Who knows maybe a black and white version could work too. I like the close-up image and the lighting Pnina. Link to comment
pnital 36 Posted December 17, 2005 Thanks Richard and Amar, It is nice to know that you too like the original, that man looked as having such a " colored" personality.... Pnina Link to comment
