watermark_of_merni 14 Posted December 13, 2005 A beautiful composition! I like the snow resting at the birch trees base and then watching the light fall throughout your photo. The snow and ice patches as it weaves through the pond with the shadows and light is very good. All of this gives such a nice balance and makes an excellent winter nature scene. Link to comment

paula grenside 0 Posted December 16, 2005 Fine composition with warm colors diluting the chill of the season. Love those patches of snow and ice breaking the reds and greens. Link to comment
kim_tural 0 Posted December 17, 2005 Hi Shuki, as always, it's very nice to see you. I do love this spot and have taken many pictures around the area. Welcome Borislave. This was my walking through the bush afternoon and I saw many views of this pond. It's nice of you to comment. Paula, yes the seasons create an ever changing scene. I was lucky to be there at that particular time of year, now everything is covered in snow so a lot of the colour is gone! Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 17, 2005 Kim, very beautiful - I have always admired the colour of silver birch but have never been able to quite capture the sheen of the bark. You have caught it superbly here, the other darker colours contrast well and help to bring it out. Link to comment

kim_tural 0 Posted December 19, 2005 Colin, I'm glad you mentioned the sheen of the birch. I was tempted to alter it but decided to leave it natural. This way I was able to class this as "unmanipulated" which is something I was envious of and now can do with thanks to the new camera. Roger, 'you' are a gift with your sweet words. Kim, I love that you came by. Your thoughts on this make me feel great! Gaetan, Thank you for the encouragement. Uros, so kind of you to envy me this shot. I got lucky. I'm not showing any of the bad shots I got that day! Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted December 19, 2005 This one would look great above a fireplace, too! For being a winter image, it has a wonderful warmth in the colors and textures. I love it!! Link to comment

kim_tural 0 Posted December 21, 2005 Sky, Colin, Spencer and Alix. I do love that you left your thoughts on my late fall scene. It's not quite winter in this one yet. It was a fun day, going out alone in the bush and taking my time and trying out the new equipment. Adding to my wilderness experience that afternoon was a sighting of a pair of river otters along the far shore of this pond. They were a lot of fun to watch but too far to photograph. Link to comment
