What are the red and blue triangles about? It almost looks like an explanation of where the "red" and "blue" forces are at (as intel weenies refer to enemy and friendly forces).

Good guess. These are warning traingles for land mines or anti personnel mines.

The enemy or us as a member of the Geneva convention should mark all land mine areas. All those countries tha are not in the Geneva convention do not! Does it ring a bell some of the countries that are having problems, and the civilian population are suffering for it.

In this instance. The troops have come across an anti personnel mine field which is protecting an enemy defensive position. The troops have to suppress the enemy whilst others then breach it. Mmmmmmm, what do you recon, bulets flying your way only one way forward, and it's through a mine field. Deep joy!

If you look at the colorized version of this image you can see that the red and blue triangles are actually flags hanging down from a horizontal wire.

When I first saw this picture the two triangles really drew my eye.

The red and white triangles are actually wooden triangle depicting in military terms a minefield :)

Thanks for visiting.

Kind regards
