jmoody 0 Posted December 10, 2005 Help! NOt sure what to do with this shot (apart from deleting it). Covert to black and white? Rotate vertical? I took several others a foot or so to the left where the wood wasn't so visible but it was mainly just the white. Maybe I'll post some to see what thoughts are. Please leave advice...ratings are secondary here (unless they're 6's and 7's of course :-) Thanks Link to comment
will king 0 Posted December 10, 2005 Looks like a set of teeth from West Virginia. ....hope you're not from W.Va. LOL. No, I don't think B&W is the way to go with this. Maybe play around in photoshop. Oversharpen, burn and dodge, exaggerate the oldness of this. Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted December 10, 2005 Thanks Will. Oregon originally. Not much "high-culture" difference I'd imagine. Just more rain :-) Link to comment
markboyer 0 Posted December 10, 2005 I really like it, Jeff. Very modernistic-painting effect. It's really good. Link to comment
jstyles 0 Posted December 10, 2005 What do you think of this? I think making it monochrome helps to emphasize the nice patterns and contrasting texture of the teeth and gums, without the distraction of color variations. Link to comment
jmoody 0 Posted December 10, 2005 Hmmmm... might take a second to grow on me, but I'm definitely interested. I tried a straight black and white conversion & liked it so-so, but this looks pretty cool. Thanks for the input! (just curious, what was the process?) Link to comment
jstyles 0 Posted December 10, 2005 Glad you found it of interest. I didn't save the file, but as I remember, I did a couple of curve adjustments, might have also used shadow/highlight on the highlights very lightly, then (or earlier) desaturated using the channel mixer as described by Debbie Grossman in her article in pop photo, then added a sepia-like filter.
