Flash was the Canon Twin Macro. If you look closely, you can see the two flashes in the spider's eyes. Also, you can see the difference in brightness between the two (set at 1:4 for this shot). I highly recommend this flash.

Hi, thanks for your answer. I thought it might be this sort of flash. Currently i'm considering buying the MT-24 EX since my regular EX 420 + diffuser just can't make it in some situations (especially when there are many branches or things like that around). Many say it's better than a macro ringflash, but... it's not exactly cheap ;-).

I think it is better than the ring flash because you have the capability to mount both flashes off ring, control their positioning (for bounce, etc), and use the device to slave a 3rd flash (for background). All of this is compact enough for field use.

 

It isn't cheap though. I drooled over it a long time before being able to take the plunge.

 

Now that I have it, I spend a lot less time fighting with light and a lot more time composing.
