hanna_cowpe 0 Posted December 3, 2005 Wandering in a small village churchyard gives a sense of history of those who lived and worked there. Link to comment
paul moshay 0 Posted December 3, 2005 A nicely composed image, and with the highlight on the tombstone it works well. Paul Link to comment
henrimanguy 0 Posted December 3, 2005 I like very much the black & white tones of this nice composition, except for the sky which is too uniformly white. Why not change it ? Regards, HenriOh! while I think to that : would you take a look to my new presentation Why have I fell in love with Venice ? Thank you. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted December 5, 2005 Hi Henri, it's good to hear from you. I agree with you that the sky is rather uninteresting. I am not enough of a PS expert to deal with those things so you'll have to use your imagination. Now I'm off to look at your new presentation. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 11, 2005 I like the atmosphere of stillness here. The dark against the light works well and I am not desperate to add a new sky to this. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted December 12, 2005 Yes, the atmosphere was lovely - a fresh September evening catching the last of the sun. I'm bothered by the somewhat skewed angle of the church but didn't want to cut into the grave on the left through adjustment. But I think the cedar branch makes up for the blank sky. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 15, 2005 I agree about the branch. Here is a straightened version. I know you are not much into PS but it was done by rotating to get it about vertical then selecting and stretching the areas to cover the blank bits. Link to comment
hanna_cowpe 0 Posted December 15, 2005 Ah yes, that's an improvement on the perspective. I see you've brought out a bit more detail in the foreground too, which is good, although not quite as contrasty as I like it. My Painshop Pro has a different method of adjusting perspective whereby you adjust the vertical and horizontal in separate steps. Link to comment
colin carron 58,916 Posted December 17, 2005 I hate Paintshop Pro! Well, OK, not HATE it but find it awkward to use. I tried lightening the foreground a bit but then decided I like you original better as it has enough detail but also has a nice mysterious feel to it. Link to comment
Guest Guest Posted February 19, 2006 Another fine composition, capturing the atmosphere of history and timelessness that surrounds these old buildings. Link to comment
