Excellent combination of the "real" and the "surreal" (sp)! Boat docks are absolutely one of the best places to shoot. Very good control of the color as well (polarizer?) My kind o shot! title? it's still early, give me time

Thanks for commenting Rycho!

...and you too Jeff. I love Marinas for reflection shots. I was inspired by a shot by Ken Williams. My favorite of his entire porfolio is of a peir. Check his porfolio out when you have a chance.

No polarizer used here... I don't own one...this is straight out of the camera I believe. I was contemplating a crop of the top third of the image and just having the reflections ... but thought better of it.

Thanks again for coming by.

I overlooked this several times and am glad I decided to finally click the thumbnail. The latter looks flat, but any decent sized print would show the delightful interplay between subject, shadow, reflection and the repetition of converging lines. The composition is well balanced; there isn't much room for error in the knot's shadow area.

sol... yes... ties that bind us to the shore, keeping us in the safe harbor, safe from the storm.

but also that bind us from the exhillaration of the open ocean?

Regina, I am quite fine, thank you :) Just had an icecream despite cold and rain outside. Now I feel like some hot red wine, that they serve in the tents in the town centre... but I guess I'll have to skip this delight for tonight. Have to study!.. ;))

How's life on your end? Hope you are enjoying the autumn in whichever way it comes to your place:)

Nice abstract effect. This is very appealing, Regina, and you have to keep looking at it to sort it out. As for a title, the first one to come to mind is "Pondering"...

Cowboy Ken has said it all: you can have it or you can knot it, but if you knot it, then you cannot have it anymore.

Or maybe I am just in a cynical mood today. . . .

Hi Regina, you do have an eye for the unusual and interesting. I think the composition of this shot is pleasing and original, Happy Holidays, Jim. BTW, what camera and lens did you use for your Mabry Mill shots?
