Drew, this is one of the better photos I saw of Antelope Canyon. Great light and color. I actually like the white spot and won't remove it. I wonder if it would look better if you were to crop 10% off from the bottom.

I hope to go there sometime soon. I heard the canyon was so crowded nowadays. How was your experience? Also, when is the best time to go?

Wow, it's glowing...wonderful! I like the white spot, too. That glow is magnificent.

Just to jump in on this conversation... Eugene: the "sun beams" only occur from the spring solstice to the fall solstice... so, summer for those.

Due to the way the light falls in the canyon, the winter gets more "blues" in the wall due because of the lighting not getting all the way to the bottom most of the time.

Exposures range from 5 - 30 seconds and you can count on having to take a shot about 3 times because someone will walk thru it. The only other thing to do is to shoot above the crowds and find details in the upper walls of the canyon when the next tour group is on their way thru.

Eugene,

Christian is right. The best time for the light beam is in the summer IMO. It's hot and crowded. I just have to wait for my turn. It took awhile though. Lookout for the slot canyon effect of the long exposure.

Thanks everyone for the comments and critiques.

excelent shot nice use of fore ground to show depth yes that white spot is annoyin an my eye does get distraceted by it but i am a heavy believer of not editing in photoshop the real art in photography is in the press of the shutter not in the press of a mouse.

What a fantastic location and a fantastic shot. Reminds me very much of a Peter Lik panoramic vertical. I am a fan of the white spot personally, gives the piece some energy.

Check out Lik's piece in the same location. I think his is a bit saturated for my taste and I think mine would end up somewhere between yours and his as far as tone goes. Really nice work.
