mark_tso 0 Posted December 4, 2005 This image is about SILENCE...the leader of this group suddenly stops the band in extremely unpredictable moment, then force the crowd to became ABSOLUTELY silent and then starts the playing once again in the same unpredictable manner... The very interesting point of all this action is that he always finds this very special moments ( it never on the same song ) for such an Interval - so very interruptive and boring thing, becames very effective and full of emotional power... thomas_turk 0 Posted December 4, 2005 Superb lighting, exposure, camera position and perspective. BUT THEN if you blank off most of the bright left side of the photo, almost up to the noise-makers right arm, you should notice how he is accentuated and how the composition becomes more strict, as the distracting bright part is shut out. ZuikoD 0 Posted December 4, 2005 Mark, no need to be ashamed. I guess your eye was also looking at the pattern the par lights create on the top of the photo, as such it is very good. The suggestion by Thomas is very good and extremely effective. I would do as he says plus crop the top to have a standard "rectangle" aspect ratio of photographic formats. I personaly do not like elongated or weird crops. peace Link to comment
perole 0 Posted December 4, 2005 I agree with the others, although I think I understand your thinking in letting him look out of the picture (at the audience?) instead of into it. The effect will be better with the suggested cropping. Per Ole Link to comment
mark_tso 0 Posted December 4, 2005 ...to the previous comments: First of all - i would like to thank all of you, my dear collegues. Second, as I specially wrote in the details - this image is not about the guy standing behind the microphone. It's about SILENCE EFFECT he creates. When I took this imsge I've thought about composition that will carry this feeling to every observer. So I pushed the figure to the corner and to the shadow (because i don't want you to concentrate on him) and i left a lot of open space just behind his hand, space filled with light only - because this is the only thing that persist in those silent intevals - the concert onstage light. I wanted to fix youe eyes on his hand up to the air - and then, followed by light scheme - backward into the light without any motion and dynamic...just silence, just interval...... the suggested crop is much more efective then my image and i really loved it (special thanks to David), but it has no orginal meaning - it's about the greatly lighted figure of musician...at list as i interprete it... thank you once again.
